Just saying, if you would really want to win a game at the auction, you'll need at least around 100000 gems (or more or less, depends), which equals to 1K emoticons/trading cards (Or more, if some emoticons are worth less) It's a better idea to exchange your gems into Booster packs, and then sell them.

Basically a hilarious auction event by steam, where you have to trade-in your emoticons for around 100 gems per item to win "free games" and profile background.
The most hilarious fact is that someone literally has bid 733100 gems on it, which is around 60 US dollars.
I mean, why would you like to win that background for 60 flipping US dollars worth of worthless gems? It also expires at January.
