Well there are three main factors. First of all your fps, because if you've limited MTA to low fps you can't compete with other players who have high fps. Then there's the ping which depends on your internet connection or your nationality. Keep in mind that servers are physically installed in Europe, so if you're from another continent you probably have an high ping. And finally the NOS usage: aged players knows how to keep NOS for the good spot. For example if you take NOS pickup in a bad zone for acceleration you should wait until the road gets straight or good for NOS usage. I hope that you'll understand which factors influence your car's speed.

As long as you have at least 25 FPS it has negligible impact on speed. On some track and vehicle combinations higher FPS is actually slower. Ping doesn't influence your speed too.

  2.

It does make the cars go faster.

It's the same reason that people with low FPS are slower.

People with fps less than 25 (may not be exact number, which could be even less) are slower because the game is coded such a way in slows down under that limit. But boats sliding on the ground much faster with 25 fps than say 45 so effect high fps on cars is unknown. I know it improves traction, but may also increase drag (air resistance) for example, making them slower.

  3.

actually, that doesn't makes car even faster, that makes car look faster but compared to 45 fps it is slower.

Why is it slower? It make cars slide less.

you can take 1 map for example and finish it on both 45 and 60 fps, you will see big difference in top time.

    Ok, I'll do it.

P.S. But then it's possible to cheat by lowering your fps.

When i try to open that link, this pops up.. HELP

    Not Found

The requested URL /stuff/uploads/music_3bfb.lua was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

You've been searching too much pikachu gifs your browser broke.

Try to get music.lua from any map which has it in MTA San Andreas\mods\deathmatch\resources\

  5. Come on, all the tops deleted and then all the noobs playing in night time and top every map for gc..

Come on, toptime gc bonus is so miserable I wonder why is it even exists. By the way I have an idea: bonus should be proporional to number of times map has been played.

In my opinion it's a good idea to start with fresh toptimes when we're done fine-tuning the anticheat,

    Agreed.

and at the same time raise the limit to 60 FPS.

But this makes cars even faster, I think. Except for boats on land.

  6.

Play for fun or don't play at all, but don't play for GC

Or, play for GC to have fun by buying maps that everyone enjoys :D.

I see someone buying a map VERY rarely. I think that means something is wrong, like maps are too expensive.

  7. What value is "driving skill" variable set on the server? For the reference, driving skill player stat in GTA SA that increase cars' traction. If it's at maximum (it is so by default in MTA race mode), I think this is very wrong. Why? Because higher framerate increases vehicle traction already. Try to play singleplayer without fps limiter (my pc gives something like 120 regardless of settings). Car will turn on dime and even brake by itself if you just let go of accelerator! Furthermore, it's totally playable at 25 fps when "driving skill" is zero, and more fun because car will slide more, I think good players should agree. Although difference isn't really big. So, I think we should set this variable to zero.

Addition: server runs at 45 fps (mix server at 60), and GTA SA is designed for 25 fps.

  8. I'd say I like fire exchange because it's fun, it's nice to have a chance of revenge when you fail, and it interferes only people behind you anyway: if you catch a fire, it means you are far enough from cars in front.

And, even without this feature, one still can blow up others with himself, which is more frustrating. But if there was a way to disable car explosions, then fire exchange should be disabled too, I think.

It doesn't add much to lap based maps, because slow people on road is a huge obstacle per se, and fire is really rare occasion.
