Pufulet Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Greenpub is a good map to play, but the mapper could of made it much more fun to play on and look at, so I decided to make a remake of it a few days ago and just change the whole look of it and remove all entities and start from scratch excluding the basis design of it which I still managed to modify it to how I wanted.One of the biggest flaws this map has is that because of how it is designed, all humans always went to the second floor to cade as fast as possible. This is because of 2 things:Zombies got in very quickly and so if you joined late you would die because they would cade in the first 1-2 minutes of the map and the ground floor was most likely being runned by zombies.Upstairs had only one main entrance for zombies and humans, so this made humans prefer it because it was easier to cade even though there were many windows but fasties were'nt a problem for humans. The first floor had many possible entrances and easily broken windows so this made it impossible for humans to cade downstairs.My main objective is to make it so humans can cade on any of the 4 floors ( basement, first floor, second floor, attic ) so this would probably result in humans spreading in groups instead of just one big meat pile.One way I will be doing this is by removing half the windows downstairs and reinforcing the strength of the rest of the window's cades.I have also added a ladder to get front floor 1 to floor 2 easily.Another feature that ruined the map was that outside was extremely simple and hardly any design, I will be making the outside evironment feel more realistic and can choose any type of scenary at this stage: desert , mountains ( chosen one ) , forest , etc.Feel free to give constructive opinions and suggestions and stay tuned for more updates on the map. Pufulet Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 I Little Outside Environment update. It took me 10-15 minutes to do it so its very rough and its just to give me some inspiration on what I could work with. I have also used a TEMP bright skybox with lighting so I can see the map more clearer, so in future expect classic sky_day01_09 skybox or a custom fairly night fitting one. I dont want to make it too dark outside so I will look for a sunfall skybox.In the future updates I will make the outside more realistic instead of a sealed off square thing and add a road or something to it so stay tuned!Other than that I made some minor inside changes and will continue to do so. I have been trying to get a good cliff feeling scenary and still working on making the map feel less square as much as possible. I also added multiple env_soundscapes with hl2 sounds mainly wind/cliff related sounds and some ravenholm wooden sounds. Quote

I have added more outdoor things to make feel less empty. I also expanded the basement, added 2 health machines and several vials and shrunk the attic.Oh and a farmhouse similar trap at the front entrance that cannot be moved.
