  1. Have you tried Chivalry with it yet? Does Chivalry even work with it?

I was playing a few matches and just thought of how terrifying it must be to get your head chopped right off and see your body laying on the ground as you (your head) rolls down the hill.

  2. Been playing Valve's official VR mode for Half-Life 2 yesterday. It's in the beta branch right now for which you can opt-in.

You haven't played Half-Life 2 until you've played it with a Rift. The whole game seemed to have been made with VR in mind, it's crazy. The enemies (a lot of them attack up close, which is enjoyably terrifying in VR), the environment (much to explore and little things to pick up) and the story overall (silent protagonist and your camera is never taken from you). It's seriously the best VR game available right now.

I can't wait to try this out. It looks incredible, and I really hope it lives up to the hype. How is accuracy in FPS games with it?

I play HL2 with mouse and keyboard. I can make the same reactionary movements as I normally would without it feeling bad, I'm just as accurate as I am normally (even though a metrocop's head at 50m distance is like one pixel due to the low pixel density at the moment). The Rift complements pretty much every control scheme, and Valve's implementation of FPS aiming works great.

it looks cool, but is it like virtual boy were you can only like have it on for less then an hour or two.

Too me its a big deal cause i wanna sit for a long time and play and not sit for like 30-60 min and then go away.

The virtual boy was the same idea, but failed because the technology just wasn't there yet. I could play hours with the Rift without feeling eye strain or getting a headache. The reason I don't is because playing HL2 in VR can be mentally exhausting because of how intense the whole experience is, you really need the break to catch your breath and mentally process all the cool shit you just did. It really is that awesome.

You just made my hopes even higher!

    Also. OH GOD!

  3. I've recently found myself becoming more and more interested in reading news, and I haven't seen a thread on Mr.G where we discuss our news sources, so here goes.

What kind of news do you read online, and where do you go to read them?

I use a cupple of norwegian tech sites, the Norwegian national broadcastings website (NRK) and a very minimal of tech sites like the verge etc.

  5. I really like Wolfire Games. The two main developers are so good at implementing features that just makes sense. Following the development proccess of Overgrown has been lots of fun.

As for the top I'd have to go with Valve/Hidden path for CS:GO and Dota2. The two most polished, beautiful, best balanced games I own :P

And it's not only about the  development of the games either, right? Valve is one of the greatest things that has happened to the game industry if you ask me, and I think most of you agree. They are truly great.

  6. I've seen a cupple of animes in my years, but I've always completely and utterly hated the general anime fanbase (the people who make it a part of their personality), but my brain keeps telling me that watching it is alright because I'm a big, big fan of movies and books in general and anime is just an alternative way of producing those movies, after all.

I can't stand "anime culture" and I think it's retarded, but I can't deny some anime is probably f'ing godlike. The animes I've seen are Hellsing, Bleach, Naruto, Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist. Before you start hating, I saw Hellsing, Bleach and naruto (from) back in the day when Naruto was at episode 20, so it's just something I've grown up with I guess.

Anyway, I was recommended to watch Death Note by a classmate, watched it and loved it. I think Death Note is a piece of art, mostly because it's easy to get into, it's logical and it's not primarily aimed at kids. I wanted to see if there was any other gems like DN out there, and I was recommended FMA several places on the internet and I decided I'd download it and give it a shot. Let's just say I was dissapointed.

Some FMA spoilers and a bit of a rant/rage:

    • FMA has no story behind it, the universe is not specially interesting, and they never explain how alchemy fucking works. It's all so illogical and hypocritical I would actually rate it the worst thing I've ever watched. They never explain the limits to the power, how one becomes stronger, and none of the 'rules' they set up make any sense at all.
    • Why is human lives special, what makes it differ from any sort of life?
    • why is human transf. something special in the world of alchemy
    • why is there a God in a universe where the only supernatural thing is SCIENCE
    • why can't the main character even think of killing a person or using someone already dead and be so insanely childish when so much in the series is so violent and 'grown up'
    • At one point the main character uses his own willpower as a stone why couldn't he use that to get his bro back? What exactly qualifies as a stone?
    • If having a stone grants you immortality and not just expand your lifespam, why can't you sacrifice one person and live forever?
    • Why is God not explained?
    • Why is the only message we get through God something as childish as "There are no things as important as friends/family" ?
    • How can the main character go through all that shit without growing a set of balls (talking about after the ending)
    • Why did a guy thousands of years old get beaten by a normal kid after he even absorbed God himself?
    • How do you perform alchemy through your hands?
    • Why is it a law that you cannot create gold, when that shouldn't be a problem because gold is a chemical element in itself, and cannot be created from anything other than gold?
    • Why does a human soul absorbed have anything to do with creating matter out of nothing?
    • How does -whatever process attached a soul to a piece of armor- know exactly what is the armor and what is not? Could he have put any arrangements of items in a pile, written a seal of blood on it and it would've acted like the body of his bro? Could he have written the sign on a house and he would've became the house? Where does the energy required to move his limbs come from?

Why does that series have a 9.0 on IMDB, and nearly every other list? I feel like I was tricked into wasting hours of my life.

I don't have anything against anyone who liked it or anything, hell, good for you you got your time worth. The thing is that after watching it, I just totally lost the interest in ever looking for any anime ever again. If that thing is so highly rated, I don't trust reviews or scores, because I won't take the risk of having to watch something like that ever again.

To my question: Do you guys think you know of any good animes I could watch that's not stupidly childish, illogical or anything of the sort? DN is the only proper series I've seen, and I loved it and I believe there are other series as good as it out there. I'm cool with anything unnatural or supernatural, as long as it's not contradictory or stupid.

    tl;dr

I just love a good story, but I don't like anime culture and I don't want to watch anime because it's anime. Do you guys have any suggestions for something you think stands out that you think I would like?

  7. If I had nothing in Norway I'd be dead in a while anyway. Shoes, I guess, so throwing myself off a building would be more pleasant.

If your girl (no, not your girl, an imaginary hot one) was cheating on you, would you want to know the truth or be lied to?

  8. Some say when we die we have 2 minutes left of energy in our brains which puts into a dream state and we go back to our first memory and relive life again. So when we die we go back to square one, but in a dream state.

Some say the light we see before we die is new life being born ( Coming out of the uterus )

Some say we just die. Simple.

I'm not sure what my whole take on the subject, but seeing as we are all living and our spirits are also living I think that our spirit carries on with us after we die seeing as spirits can't die.

The people that have died say that it's pretty much like dreamless sleep, just shittier when you wake up (if you wake up)

  9. Aye a update is coming today on 00:00 Seattle time. Btw VMR, soon a FOV fix will come, FOV is currently at 65.

Map completion is 51% for me on my lvl 80 thief but now im trying some stuff with my lvl 80 guardian :V

Oh I can't wait! I really want to start playing again.

  10. I hold PC LAN's every 3 weeks at uni for my society :P

Maybe we should do a long distance LAN. Force everyone with decent internet and a webcam in a tinychat the entire night and connect the network through Hamachi.

It would be a lot easier to organize, and it would still be tons of fun.

  11. They should seriously change the camera, where you can have it at the height of 2x your character, and still look slightly upwards. They should also increase the FOV by a lot. It's so low, it's pissing me off. I keep trying to play GW2 again to get further, but I can't deal with that shit. It just pisses me off too much.

  12. I should be able to see this

    post-485-0-12290500-1348090216_thumb.jpg

    and this

    post-485-0-53500400-1348090236_thumb.jpg

    at the same time.

This is trying to see anything in gw2. It's either

    1. See stuff in the distance, but it looks horrid because of all the shit between you and the camera, and you can't see the stuff you're about to run into, or

    2. See what's going on around you as a character (which is needed to play the game).

  13. Trying to explore and enjoy the amazing artstyle and landscape.

    post-485-0-80542600-1348089319_thumb.jpg

Trying to actually see what's going on in front of me.

In a game, at least 1/3 of the screen should be the sky. The skybox in many games looks beautiful, and it should be seen as it is in real life.

1/3 should be the distance, like what's going on way ahead of you, which is basically about 50 meters +

1/3 should be what's going on right ahead of you.

You will see this in basically ANY fps game and any game like Grand Theft Auto, but in Guild wars 2 you can only look at the stuff >50 meters ahead of you effectively. If you aim your camera in ANY other way, it will be pushed back and forth.

TL;DR The camera in GW2 is broken. They need to fix this.

  14. Playing Just cause 2, Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2, BF3 and coding for my program at college so I am taking a break from GW2.

Still need to wait .. till friday or maybe saturday if they fail to ship it in time to the germanys

Im buying it over steam and I have to wait too :(

That's such BULLSHIT. I fucking hate them for that. They should release it the same second all over the globe, there isn't a single reason as to why they should push the release date for someone, and not someone else.
