OK hi everyone, who remembers me?
Cost to host a MC server monthly is nominal - like $5/month. That's assuming a small whitelist server with no major plugins.
Anything bigger requires major effort. If you want a larger server, you have to spend $ to advertise as factions servers are a dime a dozen nowadays. Not to mention any big server probably has a team of dedicated devs / mods / etc. When I managed the MC server back in 2013/2014/2015 I was in college and had a relative large amount of free time. Could not do the same thing nowadays.
 
Minecraft.NL has always been an amazing IP though - perhaps I can help set up something simple? Like, super simple. SMP with some kind of automated land protection.

it sounds really great what you are doing, not long ago I was also on a trip "around" Europe, and it was amazing. I have seen that you already visited Barcelona (my hometown), and perhaps you have tasted spanish/catalan food, I actually think it's one of the best places to eat and not too expensive (depending on where you take your seat ofc).
I have been in NL, Germany and Poland, and for sure I recommend you to visit NL, you can find train tickets (DB-NS international) Berlin-> Amsterdam for 39€. I would also recommend you Poland, especially the coast (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot..). Poland really is cheap for most of people who come from abroad. 
Not only trains are expensive in France, actually everything is, it's one of the most expensive countries of EU, (also Switzerland, Norway). I would also recommend Copenhague as you are also close to there, so you have the choice to move in three directions; west: NL, east: Poland, and north: Copenhague. (Denmark is not too cheap, but it isn't excessively expensive. 
No, AC is legal.
We're so smart that yeah, we make others pay to do their needs.. but if you are smart you can always find not so known parts from the city you are in and find little malls where they have free restrooms, or you can just find a bar/restaurant and use them there, no need to take a drink or sth, and if anyone tells you that you need to, leave and try another one, I've done that plenty of times.

Sorry that everything had to go so badly with the drama on MTA. If the same admins you were telling me about did the same kind of stuff on Minecraft, I'd insta demote them. Being an admin isn't a power position, rather you are serving the players in order to encourage an environment for fun to be had. 
 
I still remember the early MC days when our factions were great rivals - can't believe I ever promoted you to admin lel.

Great news! I just finished my school year, and I have tons of free time. I've decided to put the server back up. I plan to leave this server up permanently as a personal world for me to build in - also possibly expanding this to the public. Everything has been untouched - you should log in where you last logged off with all your items. I did play the world in singleplayer, so my place has a lot of additions to it.
