  1. All depends on my enemies. Sometimes there are very annoying enemy jet pilots which limit your ability to mess around for longer than 20 seconds. Other times you're dominating the sky.

    Yep. Rarely there is such a pro pilot who just kills everybody, and wins every dogfight.

  2. How fast does it start to hover? Like, start hover > hovering after 1second? Or as in BF2 where it took like few hundred meters to start hovering(which is way better).

    Can't even do full 180 degrees turn (if you press "S" all the time) without it starting to hover...

  3. Jets been nerfed to hell by this patch too against everything but choppers.

    - Cannon damage buff kills dogfighting - now someone barely nicks you and you're dead before you can react. Winner is the first person who sees the other guy, period. Don't even think about skillfully outmaneuvering 2 semi-competant planes at once (one of the most satisfying things to do in this game IMO) - you'll never be able to draw a bead on one without the other shooting you down. If there's so much as a lone stinger engie on the ground as well, you're triple fucked.

    - Cannon damage is not noticeably increased vs. ground vehicles, which is where it was lacking. It was fine against aircraft pre-patch.

    - Air radar, arguably the most essential tool in an effective plane's arsenal, has been triple nerfed (half range, only detects air units, doesn't show missiles even though it's supposed to). You'll hear an enemy plane's bullets ramming up your ass long before you see him on radar now.

    - Extinguishers are nerfed due to the "improved" 35% disable threshold, which is actually just a handicap, especially in combination with the new insta-gib guns.

    AA missiles pretty just kill/disable on contact as well, and you have a much harder time locating that pesky AA tank to dodge his missiles because of the not mentioned radar nerf. AA gun seems to do additional damage as well. Think you'll counter missiles with flares? No sir, those have an insanely long reload time as well.

    Aircraft can't effectively do any strafe run action now if there is *anything* paying attention to them. To kill a tank or mobile AA you still need to unload 2 rocket salvos and most of a cannon salvo, which necessitates a very long run, and you will be instapopped if *anything* draws a bead on you during said run. To kill a tank with the guided missile, you need to hit it in the rear. Missile hit + full gun salvo will only disable a tank if you're not shooting it in the rear, and it'll be repaired by the time you come back around.

    It was decent last patch, two guys working together could make life very difficult for planes, every random asshole with an stinger or AA tank shouldn't be able to so easily stop you from helping your team.

    I fly planes to support my teammates on the ground, dogfighting is just an ugly necessity, but now AA is all jets are good for unless the opposition completely ignores you.

    Indeed... Flares are rather useless without stealth now, since after you dodge first missile with them, and enemy starts lock on you, you're dead. Also "Beam scanning" is rather useless now (can't really see the difference).

  4. Only reason I can see for jets 'stalling' at 250 feet is that the air density is very low thus not generating enough lift on the jet to keep it up in the air, result: falling down as a brick.

    #1. a MiG can fly to the edge of space which is about 40000 feet.

    #2. if the air density is so low even at 250 feet, every ground personel should've choked to death.

    A stall occurs when the plane is lifting its nose up too high, which results in the wings not generating enough lift. What then happens is that speed decreases and you start falling as a brick.

    Okey then. What is the term for that when you drop your speed too much, and you get "stuck" into air (And BF3 is being so realistic when jet STUCKS into air and drops very slowly, instead of dropping down.)

    True. It also seems to affect normal airbreaking, since i can't press "S" longer than 3 seconds without stalling...

    Rocket Pods can be really devastating if you attack from side @MiF

    Also Extinguisher heals you up to 50% even if you had 2-10%

    Yes i know, i might try rocket pods on conquest some day.

    Also extinguishers are good in non-HC, but in HC i would rather use flares. Also extinguisher takes far more longer to "reload", so it's kinda bad if enemy has even one guy with stinger, who tries to kill you.

    Guided missles < rocket pods. In almost any scenario where you can get a proper lock on an enemy jet, it's better just to shred it with your gatling gun. At least with rocket pods you can do some proper ground damage.

    Well what i have experienced myself, is that with rocket pods i don't even disable vehicle, nor kill people with it. With guided missile (and beam tracking) i first fire the missile, then fire as long as i can with my gatling gun, and i usualy get "vehicle disabled" and sometimes even destroy. In Rush guided missile also speeds up killing tanks, and is much better choice in my opinion because you can fire that missile, and shot with your gatling gun at same time.

    I don't use air radar nor stealth. Beam tracking with guided missiles with rush jets :3

    The buck? Altho if you use flares and just bit of your brain it's very easy to avoid stinger missiles, and with stealth it is just impossible to get shot down by missiles (unless you're stupid enough...).

    Doesnt say if they fixed the problem where TV guided missiles bounce off an enemy choppers windshield, or from an enemy tank.

    I have been 1hit1killed many times with TV missiles when i'm on tank. I don't hear any locking sounds what so ever, but i instantly die on heli which is using TV missiles. Dunno about those bugs tho :P

    - Reduced the effectiveness of Beam Scanning for Jets.
