And please give us as much info as you can to let us help you solve the problem as quick as possible.

Hint: some of the advanced info we need (BIOS driver version, GPU driver version etc.) can be found in the start menu and searching for: "System Information" (windows 7).

Other info can be found in the Control Panel. if you need any help finding it, state it in the section you need.

Here are some handy programs which should help you find that info:

19/7/2011: After i Ran Furmark windowed and fullscreen, it seems to fixed my problem. CarPileUp and BouweV can confirm this.

24/7/2011:Ok. after some thinking and being pissed off, i came to the decision to just re-install a copy of Win7 x64.

After that i will only install the drivers needed to play games.(Chipset drivers, Marvel storage driver(RAID) and AMD 6990 drivers)

15/8/2011: I recieved my new PSU from Corsair after some mail traffic.

From all the way from Hong kong its finally in my PC. i just Played Gmod for a bit and then HL2.exe crashed when i had to much Hunters spawned on the map....

Later this week i'll be trying Portal and some other games.

I'll keep you up to date!

1 Treid reinstallting your graphics drivers?

2 Check your temps (GPU, CPU) while playing.

3 run prime95 (In-place large FFTs mode) for testing your CPU / furmark for your GPU (both for at least 2 hours, but not at the same time!)

4 Test your RAMs (Memtest 86+)

5 do a bios update

Start with number 1. When this won't help then number 2..... and so on...

Also, do you only have this problem with valve games? It's been solved....

Yes and i installed the newest from the AMD's website.

But i'll give a second go and check my temps.

Thank you!

Maybe you should add some programs to the topic start like CPU-Z, GPU-Z, everest etc, so people won't have to ask what's in there PC. They don't have to ask, we don't have to answer, it's a win win situation :yeah:

Good idea!

Edit: Added the links! They go directly to the download pages.

I remember my PC shutting down at games, it was indeed a temperature problem.

(too much dust making my CPU 120Celcius)

i Highly doubt its dust.

since my room is pretty much dust free and i work hard to keep it that way.

plus my airflow is more then good to prefent dust building up.

But, i'll check it right now.

The most unlikely thing, will be the likeliest thing to happen.

I've had the very same problem with some Dell computer. Caused both the computer and the GPU to crash under even little load (8800GTX at the time). Although that PC used a cheap 400W PSU with very low efficiency (not enough amp on the 12V rail and all that jazz), and not a powerful Corsair.

Anyway, good luck with it.

The minimal recommended system power given by the manufractures applies to cheap PSUs aka. chinabombs. For instance the gtx 580 with a recommended system power of 600 Watt. A 450 Watt brand PSU handles the card without any problems. One of the most important thing is how many ampere it provides on the 12V rail. Btw: He's got a 1,2 kW PSU (oversized, but meh)from Corsair, which is well known for good quality, so it might be a problem with the rails which cannot provide the power, caused by a manufracture error or something else. Lets wait until he gets his PSU back.

Indeed. That's why i'm a bit shocked that it was the PSU. i never buy chinabomb PSU's. definitively not for a HD 6990 :')

How ever, a Brand PSU of 450W powering a 600W system isn't such a good idea. it may handle it, but not for long. instead, i'd use a 520 Brand PSU. but that's my opinion

4 more work days until i get my PSU back (i hope)
