Clavus Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 This took my whole damn Monday so you guys better bloody appreciate it!Here are my notes and scores:------------------- TORAR DOLAG -------------------by Jdzelhorsthttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/TORAR%20DOLLAG/2011-10-10_15.02.38.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/TORAR%20DOLLAG/2011-10-10_15.02.48.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/TORAR%20DOLLAG/2011-10-10_15.03.01.pngStronghold design:Pretty basic castle design. Not much detail. Pretty small too.(4/10)Adventure design:Feels more like a museum. Very small too.(2/10)Bonus:But as a museum it does a pretty nice job. I liked reading the signs.(1/5)Total:(7/25)------------------------- Scarab-palace RPG -------------------------by Whimplashhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Scarab%20RPG/2011-10-10_14.39.00.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Scarab%20RPG/2011-10-10_14.39.17.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Scarab%20RPG/2011-10-10_14.40.53.pngStronghold design:Quite amazing cliff-side castle design. Great detail. Courtyard and the large tree are nice landmarks too.Too bad there is not a lot of indoor detail.(7/10)Adventure design:It truely feels like a RPG adventure, with NPC quests and new areas being uncovered over time. Too bad you couldn't finish it!(9/10)Bonus:Villager dialogue is very amusing (Guard A: "NO INTRUSIONS!" - Guard B: "That's what she said"). Very nice quest system basedaround redstone.(4/5)Total:(20/25)-------------------- Solar Temple --------------------by MrZunzhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Solar%20Temple/2011-10-10_14.46.57.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Solar%20Temple/2011-10-10_14.47.08.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Solar%20Temple/2011-10-10_14.47.24.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Solar%20Temple/2011-10-10_14.47.49.pngStronghold design:Great Arabian style stronghold. Nice touches on the gardens and other surroundings.Great attention to detail indoors too. Love the hall and the throne room.(9/10)Adventure design:This is where it all falls apart a bit. Besides exploration there's not much to do. No buttons to press, no loot orstories to be uncovered.(2/10)Bonus:Love the distinct building style.(2/5)Total:(13/25)------------------------------- The Iron Mine of Sakado -------------------------------by ornom0nhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/The%20Iron%20Mine%20of%20Sakado/2011-10-10_15.05.12.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/The%20Iron%20Mine%20of%20Sakado/2011-10-10_15.09.45.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/The%20Iron%20Mine%20of%20Sakado/2011-10-10_15.34.07.pngStronghold design:Not much on the outside, since it's a mine. But could've used some more work. The interior is a whole other story. It containspretty much everything an adventurous mine needs. Great work on the different places and interiors!(7/10)Adventure design:Exploring an abandoned mine, with a secret cult hidden beneath, unraveling the story that played in these mines. Well done!(8/10)Bonus:The stories / diaries and signs were well written. The cult chambers / traps creeped me out D:(3/5)Total:(18/25)------------------------- Castle in a Glass -------------------------by Rinkanahttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Castle%20in%20a%20Glass/2011-10-10_15.40.14.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Castle%20in%20a%20Glass/2011-10-10_15.40.25.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Castle%20in%20a%20Glass/2011-10-10_15.50.30.pngStronghold design:Very nice and lively design. I liked the use of colours and plants everywhere. Too bad there isn't much on the path to thesecret chamber.(7/10)Adventure design:Lacks a bit in this department. Besides the secret chamber, there is not much to find. Hoped you'd do something with theunderground ravine you found.(4/10)Bonus:Nice work on the lava / water synergy.(2/5)Total:(13/25)------------- Egypt -------------by Pufulet and his factionhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Egypt/2011-10-10_16.06.44.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Egypt/2011-10-10_16.07.56.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Egypt/2011-10-10_16.09.48.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Egypt/2011-10-10_16.22.23.pngStronghold design:Largest construction yet. Egyptian inspired architecture. Construction quality differs quite a lot. Pufulet's construction ispretty epic. As for the rest: lots of seemingly unfinished stuff and you don't quite know where something starts and where something ends. But the amount of work does show.(9/10)Adventure design:Mostly based around exploration, which isn't too bad since there's lots to explore. I probably missed some areas along the way, but there's no real path to follow. A few trap areas but nothing too original.(7/10)Bonus:Did I mention the amount of work?(3/5)Total:(19/25)---------------------------- Greek Abandoned City ----------------------------by ZomBitch and his factionhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Greek%20Abandoned%20City/2011-10-10_16.50.13.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Greek%20Abandoned%20City/2011-10-10_16.55.47.pngStronghold design:Nice greek architecture. Too bad there doesn't really seem to be a path or relation between the different buildings.Interior design isn't that great, although the dungeon is pretty nice.(7/10)Adventure design:There are three seperate paths to follow. One is based mostly around finding hidden buttons in small rooms (this one ends quitesuddenly without any payoff). The other is mostly based around the path getting blocked by pistons and then giving up all hope. The pyramid one (isn't very Greek ) is pretty straightforward with a few traps and a few chests at the end. To summarize, pretty entertaining but nothing too suprising.(8/10)Bonus:Nice tune being played under one of the buildings.(2/5)Total:(17/25)---------------- LoLtopia ----------------by acote321, Zipsam, conor00666, IRePILaYhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/LoLtopia/2011-10-10_17.31.56.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/LoLtopia/2011-10-10_17.32.23.pngStronghold design:Lot of work went into it. Nice architecture (not very consistent but whatever), and certainly a grand scale. Nice detailin the interiors and dungeons.(9/10)Adventure design:Mostly exploration, not much of a story being told. I went down the dungeon, found the hidden areas, but there wasn't toomuch of a payoff. Atmosphere was nice though.(6/10)Bonus:The giant spider (3/5)Total:(18/25)----------------------- Company Kingdom -----------------------by squareman1http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Company%20Kingdom/2011-10-10_17.55.41.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Company%20Kingdom/2011-10-10_18.08.37.pngStronghold design:Well crafted sky-castle community type thingie. Pretty solid design, nothing too fancy though. The dungeon is nice but lackssome spots of interest.(7/10)Adventure design:It's mostly exploring abandoned houses, which is a bit of a shame. The dungeon looks interesting but ultimately lacks anyreal attractions.(4/10)Bonus:Sky ship? Sky ship!(2/5)Total:(13/25)------------------ Greentorch ------------------by Jadja, Christiaan232, Martijn2901, Lennyiswafhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Greentorch/2011-10-10_18.27.06.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Greentorch/2011-10-10_18.27.33.pngStronghold design:It's a tree (or a green torch?). Original, but could've used a bit more detail. Pretty cramped interior. Loved the pool.(6/10)Adventure design:It's more of a place you come to relax. Chilling in the pool. Not much to discover except the different water slides.(4/10)Bonus:It is a really nice place to relax (2/10)Total:(12/25)-------------------------- Dungeons and Penis --------------------------by LukeSTD95http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Dungeons%20and%20Penis/2011-10-10_18.30.18.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/11217331/screens/minecraft/buildcontest/Dungeons%20and%20Penis/2011-10-10_18.33.17.pngStronghold design:Penis penis penis, penis penis! Penis penis. Penis penis penis. Penis: penis penis, penis penis..(5/10)Adventure design:Penis penis peeeeenis. Penis, penis penis penis.(3/10)Bonus:Lol penis.(1/5)Total:(9/10)To summarize the top 3:3rd placeThe Iron Mine of Sakado!by ornom0nWins a Steam game of 10 euros and 1000GC!2nd placeEgypt!by the Egypt factionWins a Steam game of 20 euros and 5000GC!1st placeScarab-RPG!by WhimplashWins a Steam game of 40 euros and 10000GC!In order to claim your prize, contact me.
