Clavus Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 IntroductionFor people that are new to Green-Coins: they are a virtual currency we use on our gameservers that players can use to buy items and perks that are exclusive to our servers. From today on, Minecraft has a Green-Coins shop too!More detailed info on Green-Coins can be found in our dedicated FAQ topic. Here's a simple tutorial (with lotsa pictures) on how to get it to work. How do I get this working? The first thing you'll need to do, is connect your forum account (also known as: GC account / MrG account / I-use-too-many-names) to your Minecraft account. This is quite a simple process, and you'll only need to do it once. First thing you have to do is follow the Green-Coins link at the top of this page.Or just bookmark it already.Chances are you'll be presented with a login screen. Just log in using your forum username/email and password (if you don't have a forum registration, register here!).After logging in: congratulations! You're now on the main page of your GC account. Here you can 1) View your awesome account related details2) Donate lots of money for us to keep our server running and get Green-Coins yourself3) Subscribe to provide upkeep for certain servers (used on occasion)4) Visit our beautiful item shops5) Connect your Steam and Minecraft account to your GC acountLet's skip everything else for now and move right on to point 5: connecting your Minecraft account. Scroll down the page to find this:Be sure it's spelled exactly the same as the username of your Minecraft account. Then hit "Send request!" and you're off.The next step requires you to join our Minecraft server. I'm sure you know how to do that (if you're already logged in, reconnect!). Once logged in, this should pop up:Simply type /verify in chat and you're done! Your Minecraft account should now be connected. How to go shoppingLet's go back to the main GC account page in your browser. Click the Minecraft logo:Now you're in the shop itself! Here you can buy things using Green-Coins:Pretty much all items right now are 'shipments': stacks or bundles of items that you can retrieve ingame by typing /shipment in chat (this should work instantly after buying things in the shop! No need to reconnect!).We've also added persistent perks, like the use of our live map cloak, extra faction power and even a reserved server slot!I don't have Green-Coins, I'm poor sad panda :'(There are two general ways of getting Green-Coins:1) Playing on our gameservers. Right now, Minecraft only has a trading system for Green-Coins ingame (type "/drop 15" to drop 15 Green-Coins for someone to pick up, for example), but you can play on our other gameservers (Multi Theft Auto, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod Zombie Survival, just read the FAQ) to gain Green-Coins and spend these on Minecraft stuff if you wish.2) Donate! There's a donate button at the top of this page. You can also find it on your GC account page, just press this obvious button:You'll receive quite a lot of Green-Coins in exchange for your donations (right now, we only support PayPal). And don't worry, the donations won't be spend on drugs and hookers, I can't remember the last time we broke even with the server upkeep cost.Questions? Comments?Just reply! Quote
Tom Klijbroek Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Cool! Too bad I'm still too poor to buy the full raiding gear, guess I'll go for a pile of dirt then. It's always better to buy dirt than to actually dig it out yourself. Edited February 13, 2012 by Tom Klijbroek Quote
Salty Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Great job.Now I know how much my one-map obsidian projects would have been in GCs.Let's see... 70 stacks...I wish I could have sold those. ಠ_ಠ Quote

Clavus Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 Added 'Bag of Seeds' item to the shop. Contains all 4 types of seeds.EDIT:Added 'Railroad Package'. For all you infrastructural types.EDIT 2:Added 'Nuclear Option'. 4 whole stacks of TNT for whomever is crazy enough to buy it. Quote
Clavus Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 I'm gathering ideas for possible perks / items for the server.Things I have on my list:- Faction related perks (extra power, items to regen power)- Virtual chest (typing /chest opens a sort of backpack in which you can store items which you won't lose on death, seems this is possible)Also I'm trying to find a (safe) way to get a Green-Coins economy going. Meaning it'll be the first gameserver in which you can directly give GC to other players. Quote
Dr.Minky Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) - Potion brewer kit- Miner kit (dia pick and a stack of torches)- Possibly some world edit related stuff, for example a faction could pay for a forest to be generated around their land, or a lake to be filled with water, but they would have to be very expensive to buy..PERKS:- Spawning with an active potion e.g. spawning with a Speed potion effect, (I dont know if this is possible)- Increased damage protection when on your faction landI suggest that you add MUCH more to the food one, as food is fairly easy to get but you need a lot of it, people are more likely to buy say half a stack of pork than just one of each type of food, because you'd use that in like 5 minutesAlso if people are gonna use the shop more, the amount of hackers NEEDS to be cut down, its just so easy to get a set of dia armor nowadays. If the server gets enough donations is there a chance the CPU can be upgraded and anti-ore hacking stuff can be installed? Edited February 15, 2012 by Dr.Minky stardude9 1 Quote
Clavus Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Upgrade is already on the way. It'll cost me an arm and a leg. So please donate so I can buy new limbs There's more food in the Healthy Meal shipment now. Quote

I hope if you enable GC trading the server won't become full of beggars. Edited February 15, 2012 by mogadonskoda Quote

awesomeo_5000 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Massive props for this, it works well and looks set to bring in some good donations!I would suggest for where to go in the future:Change the wool shipment, 8 blocks of colour isn't really enough to create anything. In time I would love to see the ability to buy stacks of each colour. Or even just of white wool so it could be dyed. I love decorating in gold and lapis blocks too, because I am a tacky SoB. They serve no other purpose than decoration, so would be cool to see them available too. An obvious move is grass/mycelium blocks. As well as glass, wood and other basic blocks.I like that there are no diamonds on there. It gives a necessity to actually play the game rather than being able to get the best gear in the game for a few euros. Already been suggested, but a alchemists kit would be wicked. Some base gear for creating potions and such. Base marking on dynmap could cost a modest amount of gc?And reserved slots Seriously good work though. Clavus Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Probably going to add dynmap cloaking as an item too. That way I can also stop using my horrible edited version of dynmap altogether, and just use my plugin to handle it all.The new (original) dynmap plugin also has a better Factions integration, so you can see the owner and members of a faction on the live map EDIT:Added "Infinite Spring" item, two buckets of water. Dr.Minky Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 On top of the some of every colour wool thing, you can have one which is a stack of any colour wool, since people are usually gonna want one colour anyway I don't think the virtual chest thing is a good idea.. It would make raiding kinda pointless considering if 2 people had the chest thing they could store ALL their valuable items in it and have nothing left for people to raid Quote
awesomeo_5000 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Yeah, the chest thing would blow for raiding. But if its really expensive. Like 10-15k green coins per map, then I'd vouch for it just for any donations it might bring in.I was thinking, either officially or unofficially when the in game trading system is in place, we could host map long competitions and week long lotterys and stuff. Eg, 100gc per ticket, winner takes the pot minus an administration fee of 15-25%. Best looking base.Best designed base in terms of innovative protection from raiders (piston traps, new defense ideas, hiding your base)Mr & Mrs Minecraft, people could vote for a player to receive GC, upon receiving their prize they are forced to dance to a slow jam together. And another idea I proposed before, paying a rather large sum of GC to have your base Mcedited into the new world. There would have to be rules, such as no chests, diamond or iron blocks. And it would have to be set at maybe 30k gc? But with the larger factions this would only be <3k each. It might inspire some better base builds and less of a complacency when the map changes. Quote
