I doubt we need any cartograph'd picture of the current world, if we are going to completely restart everything on a new map. But yeah, it's easier to navigate around the world if there's a proper map, and/or compass (which I doubt Notch will add, but it would be a great addition) Let's just assume that north is the direction the clouds move.

I think we should start over again at the next update. Current world is pretty nice, but we can take new lessons to the next.
-
Oh well. So Mayco didn't make it. You have some creepy stalkers there dude.
-
Meh, because I cropped the map it doesn't generate new terrain at the places I removed. That's why 3 sides of our map won't generate new terrain.

Stop talking about a 3rd team unless someone is actually willing to lead. The other two teams are pretty much set. I did a quick survey of my team to find out what week days people are available. Sunday, followed by Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, seem to be the optimal evenings to organize a match for us. I guess we can start climbing the ladder soon

That was pretty cool

True, the tunnel isn't square. But it still falls in the gap between square tunnels and 'what-we-like-to-see'. If you're going to make something big (tunnel or building) I'd expect to put some equal effort in making it look nice. If you want to make something huge in 5 minutes you're missing the point. When you walk around the village for example, it's a lot of fun to see the attention to detail at some spots. Makes the place feel cozy (it'd be nice if we had a proper day/night cycle..).
-
I don't know who build the tunnel system, it looks stupid though. No effort at all besides grinding blocks. Also Mayco, store your torches in a underground basement or something instead of all over the front of your house. And what's with all the other junk there.
-
You made a name in the mountain for a place that consists of like, two actual buildings...? You guys should start building more houses then. Also nobody get the bright idea to do the same for the main village, the Mr. Yellow smiley is enough.
-
Meh it isn't that bad. It's pretty bland because he only used planks. No effort in it at all :/ I'm more bothered by a player who still doesn't clean up trees properly. Seriously, if you see leaves with treeblocks hanging in the sky, at least cut away the tree blocks so the leaves disappear themselves.
-
That's because you're suddenly in another area, the server has to update everything around you. Almost done cropping the map. Went from 22mb to a 7.5mb save file. About 300 million (!) blocks removed.
-
Some idiot on the server still doesn't know how to properly remove trees. :/

Before I start... post music! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6oZSp49Oss Redgord and I build this: This building is to set a standard for people wanting to build big. We have a rule against ego-building, but that doesn't mean large structures aren't allowed if they're as awesome as our cathedral. If you want to build something big, come to me with a plan, a suggested position, and what it's going to look like.
-
Let's refrain from building very large stuff right now. We'll try to organize that later. Just keep expanding the village and mines.

Latest (day/night mix) cartograph of the map. You might notice that I cut the image. After cartographing I noticed that the previous server world was still attached to the newly generated world for some reason (also explains why the save was so big to begin with). No idea why, I made sure it started fresh. Note that these areas won't show up ingame, the server generates new terrain over them. As you can see, the world is a bit larger than expected because Toaster and Notte build their house there on the right. I already talked to them about it so I don't want anyone else building beyond the horizon.

Here's the world backup of the Great Friday 13th Forest Fire. world.rar I managed to delete ALL the fire (which also means any fireplaces people made) in the world. Redgord, me and another guy cleaned up the floating wood blocks afterwards. Also two buildings needed restoring. Made a backup after we were done.
-
No rather not. If it goes wrong, it goes terribly wrong. Just break the leaf blocks (or as long as they float in the air, they disappear themselves over time), saves me a lot of trouble having to fix server saves at 2:30 AM. You can still use fires for chimneys / beacons and stuff, as long as there isn't a tree within a mile radius.
-
Fire rule changed because Redgord made us learn the hard way: NO FIRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Don't even attempt 'controlled' fires. Trying to fix the server save. We had a forest fire the size of the one in Russia and three buildings were lit.
-
I love what some people have been making on the server. This is exactly why I set up the rules! Please continue making nice stuff
-
I want to expand on the 'no wandering off' rule, THIS ALSO MEANS UNDERGROUND (also it looks like ass, don't play this game like you're grinding): I was told Toaster made this. Don't do it again.
-
These are the sort of buildings I want to see: Having a whole town of these is much more fun than having several large towers ruining the view.
-
Trying to limit the build areas at start. We have a few houses and a shared mine.
