  1. dogshit you can make the minor effort of making a list, right?

    :P

    Gets rid of all lampposts, street signs and a few other bits. I've left in things like fire hydrants and mail boxes... plus there are also trees that line the road... maybe someone else could do those ;)

    Oh!... plus I upped the radius to 50000. I don't know what unit of measurement it is but i found that at 5000 i could see lampposts before they disappeared - looked a bit shit.

  2. Hi, thanks for letting me know. Although I can't change the way tabs work, I did force 'race' to be the first everytime you connect.

    So connecting and pressing F9 should lead you straight to it.

    Cool, nice one.

    Although would it not be a good idea to put all commands in a sticky thread here as well, for reference? Just a thought.

  3. Bumping this since its kinda related to keybinds/commands to let everyone that I have created a full list of commands/keybinds that can be used in-game visible at the F9 Help Menu in the 'race' section

    the list is basically for new players but some of you may still not be familiar with everything

    Just to let you know, you cant see the race tab with lower resolutions... I can only see up to 'Player Stats'

  4. You must be getting fed up with my ideas by now, but here's another one anyway :P

    My idea is for some way for spectators bet on races with their GC.

    The amount they would win would be a combination of when they placed the bet (so that bets placed when the race starts returns more GC than one placed when its 34/35 CPs); and the player's race/win ratio.

    So, lets say you start by saying the potential win is 2 x the bet (so 100 GC bet would return your 100 bet PLUS the same again). So a bet placed when the racer is at 0/10 CPs would be a 1x multiplier (so 100 x 1 = 100), 9/10 CPs would be a 0.1x multiplier (100 x 0.1 = 10)... PLUS your original bet.

    Then you'd need to work out some formula for converting the players race/win ratio to another multiplier. Mine is 1879 races, 175 wins (175/1879 = 0.09), and just looking at Arx's stats, his are 1577/4341 = 0.36, Prayer is 976/7450 = 0.13 and just for the record lets say a random noob would be 0/100.

    So the simplest way to make that a multiplier would be 1 - ratio.

    So i would be 1 - 0.09 = 0.91

    arx: 1 - 0.36 = 0.64

    prayer: 1 - 0.13 = 0.87

    noob: 1 - 0 = 1

    Now multiply the result of the CP multiplier with the win/race and you have your prize. So I guess the formula is...

    Win = Bet + (1 - (Wins / Races)) X (Bet - (Player_CP X (Bet / Total_CPs)))

    A 100 bet on me at the start of a 45 CP race would be:

    Win = 100 + (1 - (175 / 1879)) X (100 - (0 X (100 / 45))) =

    Win = 100 + (1 - 0.09) X (100 - 0)

    Win = 100 + (0.91 X 100)

    Win = 100 + 91

    Win = 191

    Arx win = 164

    Prayer = 187

    noob = 200

    if the bet was placed at say CP 44, then the result would be...

    100 + (0.91 X (100 - (44 X (100 / 45)))

    100 + (0.91 X (100 - (44 X 2.22))

    100 + (0.91 X (100 - 97.68))

    100 + (0.91 X 2.32)

    100 + 2.11

    102.11

    Arx = 101.41

    Prayer = 101.93

    noob = 102.2

    You could also make it so that you could only place bets in spectator mode, and if you then spawn the bet is cancelled.

  5. We've had enormous lag the past few days because of the modshop

    So it's disabled for now anyway

    Yeah... I literally posted this just before I joined the server and saw :rolleyes: lol

    But while we're on the subject, surely it's just the object upgrade like wheels and spoilers that are causing lag... I would've thought the vehicle colour upgrades would be irrelevant given that all cars are different colours anyway...?

    I love your name.

    Thx bro

  6. What do you think of this...

    • Buy Car - 200 GC
    • Each Individual Upgrade - 100 GC
    • Respray - 50 GC

    This way, a dingy for example would cost 200, but a fully upgraded Flash would cost... perhaps 1000 GC???

    Would make things a bit more interesting i think...

    Anyway, Just an idea :)

  7. Optional ghostmode sucks for one of the simplest reasons - it's optional

    This means someone could turn their GM off deliberately to fuck you up in a race :)

    It would be like the old GM-system with the 3rd checkpoint. Everyone lost their ghostmode there and a total chaos erupted. That's when we implemented the feature that checks if ppl are around you to turn it off nice and smooth and with no colliding involved.

    No, switching it on/off only starts from the next race. But yeah, I agree with bandit - the current system is the best option.

  8. I don't have an opinion either way on this issue, but I just wondered Bin if you'd ever played on the SKC server with the optional ghost mode, and what you think of it?

    I haven't (could you explain?). But like BinSlayer said, ramming is part of the game. I even see 'blocking' at some points part of the game. Keeps it fun and different than the serious race games/mods/etc.

    Remember that in the old days there was no such thing at all.

    Well on SKC you can switch GM on or off for yourself with F2 (i think) - If you have GM on your top times aren't recorded and you get less points for winning etc. So serious players who want a top time have to play with GM off.

  9. And if you don't have a personal best time (i.e you have not finished the map yet) nothing will be displayed down there either

    I can only see the top half of that info box

    mtascreen201112252112.jpg

    Anyway, I was thinking more of it in the chat stream anyway because /mapinfo is slow and annoying (sorry)

  10. And if you don't have a personal best time (i.e you have not finished the map yet) nothing will be displayed down there either

  11. Is there any way to see your best time on the map you're playing?

    If not would it be possible to implement a /best command?

    edit: or simply show your best time when you finish

  12. I have to say no to this one.

    :( I am disappoint!

    But seriously... I played a map yesterday which said you could change the colour of your Buffallo by pressing C... it didn't work though (something to do with the 1.1 & 1.1.1 updates which borked some scripts) and most cars were similarly coloured and shaded - as I predicted it didn't look boring or shit, and the custom coloured cars really stuck out! It made the seem all the more special!

  13. BinSlayer said one spawnpoint is laggy but here's something I have discovered:

    1) It's laggy when the vehicle is custom. (That means people have to download it and it has ~6MB graphics on it so they're pretty damn huge and all in one spot cause a huge lag)

    2) It's laggy when it's nighttime. (Somehow due to the headlights of the vehicles.. when they collide, it's just a lagfest)

    Which leads me to the point that it isn't really that laggy when it's daytime with default vehicles. (I THINK)

    When you say "laggy" am I right in assuming you actually mean "low fps"?

    In which case, yes... custom models lower your fps because I would imagine that they are a higher polygon count to the native GTA:SA vehicle models (I can remember one from yesterday (custom Mitsubishi Evo model) which also had roll bars (extra polygons)... I've seen others with accurately modelled engine blocks!)

    Anyway, for me the worst lag happens on motorbike maps... its fine for the first 3 seconds and then it drops to <10 fps. (But I know My PC sucks ass, so....) I never had any problems back in the day with MTA:Race though!

  14. You can make as many as you want.

    A map will only be playable if it has more than 0.

    So in theory you can even have 1 spawnpoint, but this means we'll all spawn in the same place which is pretty laggy..

    Try to make as many as you can to reduce lag

    OK, yeah, that was my point/question :)

  15. Spawnpoints.

    Am I right in assuming that there is some server script that duplicates spawnpoints to make sure there are enough... I say this because the max spawnpoints I have made in the past is 40, but they are still playable with more than 40 players.

    So with that in mind, in theory, would we be able to make maps that just have one spawnpoint? Or do we still have to make 40????

    I hope you understand what I'm getting at.

  16. I think you're wrong, I think there are enough customised cars to still make it look not shit.

    and at the end of the day, people come to the server to race, not look at car colours.

    I certainly don't think people would leave or not play on the server because of it.

    Besides, it would be relatively simple to limit the random vehicle colour script so that all cars were equally dull shades of different hues.

  17. I think it would be a good move from an "encouraging-more-people-to-embrace-greencoins-and-hopefully-donate" standpoint to make all colourable vehicles the same or boringly similar dull grey/brown colour - for cars with 2 colours like the Bullet, make both colours the same too. (unless they've bought the car of course!)

    Like I say I think this would encourage more people to care more about GC because the "bought" coloured cars would stand out even more than they do!

  18. Even though I love the map, I kinda agree with Martin's suggestion... But I would say a 10 "play again" limit - I guess this could be a server rule for all maps (to keep it simple - even though it would probably only ever be invoked with NTS)

    I also think buying maps should be cheaper.

  19. #1 Paying 5 Green-Coins the spawn position change.

    Right now the price is 20 GC which, in my opinion, is quite ridiculous. First of all, the maximum amount of GCs you can get on an average map is 20. And that's only if you finish first. I'm not familiar with the time=amountofGC formula but maps somewhat under 3 minutes only get you 10 Green-Coins per first place. So even if you get the really best time on the whole server, you end up with -10 GC which really isn't a prize, is it..

    #2 Restore the old camera

    The front-view camera was a really good point of view. It helped racing a whole lot, you could manage obstacles better and such. The new look-around inside-car camera is quite crap. First of all, I don't even think anybody's using it. Secondly, it's not even close to the quality of the frontal (old) camera - you can't even see the front of the vehicle, let alone race properly.

    shitty.jpg

    Really.. can't even see the road.

    TBH I never use any other camera than the default one, but I can see how that view is not very helpful

    As for GC in general I think they're all messed up.

    I personally believe you shouldn't be able to change spawn as it just gives an advantage to those who can afford it.

    1500 GC for one custom horn?! WFT is that all about? It's not as if it makes players think "oh well I better donate so I can have them all". For me, at least, I just think... "Well I've got one, I cant be bothered to get any more".

    I also think everyone who finishes a race should be awarded at least 1GC... and the top ten should be awarded additional GC.
