Botervloot Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) Clavus' map:Pro's:- Overall nice style- Interesting gameplay mechanics.Con's:- Sloppy, cheap work (clipping issues, stairs not properly made)- Dull walls EVERYWHERE.- Can't find my way around, get lost easily- Tight corridors provide advantage to zombiesVerdict: The map is gameplay wise fun to play on. The bridges are a nice touch to it. Sadly, it's really repetitive, with almost no clear recognition points to go to. For beginners, this map will be very confusing, even for experienced people who played this map often.Meh. It looked nicer in the screenshots. 6/10========================================================================Darkness' map:Pro's:- Variation in environments- Several nice touches to the experience - Variation in size, width, length ect.Con's:- The looks are amateur.- Almost everything looks and feels out of place.Verdict:Suprised by this map. It looks fun to play on, though all those bright lights everywhere, and out of place objects make it look amateur-ish. 7/10========================================================================Pufulet's mapPro's- Has one of the best looks in all 3 maps- Variation in playstyle- Simple for beginners- Looks and plays funCon's- Design is a little weird (for an oilrig)- Lots of tight rooms- Some parts of the map make no sense (metal is bend, like a bend garage door, yet there is a metal wall behind it, and only the abyss below it, where the garage would have been)Verdict: My favorite. Provides a neat experience. Design should be worked through, but the experience is well done. 8/10 Edited October 6, 2010 by Botervloot Quote
Mayco Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Sorry for being so late. To save some time I'll steal Boter's form:Clavus' map:Pro's:- The "chaos" really jumps out- Pretty creative, must've already been confusing just to create itCon's:- Repeating textures- Might be frustrating, especially for humansVerdict: I expected an abstract map, but this map was more confusing than abstract. I had to noclip to see the part with the cilinders and to find the part with the bridges back. I don't really see this as a downside though, it takes a long time to remember the map even slightly, which gives the map a pretty long "lifetime" before getting boring. However, I think the zombies will have a huge advantage over the humans, because of the small corridors. And the confusion.I like abstract/confusing maps, but I'm not sure how it'll work out, so I'll give it a 8/10========================================================================Darkness' map:Pro's:- A lot of variation in props/environments- Nice amount of props, no empty buildingCon's:- Still pretty blocky- Out of place objects- Lights seriously hurt my eyesVerdict:I was honestly surprised by the quality of your map (no offense). Looked pretty nice (well not the lights, they were very uncomfortable to my eyes). One of the things I didn't like was the alarm, it was very annoying and as far as I know there's no way to turn it off. I also think some objects were a bit randomly placed/out of place. There are a LOT of tires in the same room where there's some kind of generator with a lot of lights next to it for example. This seems a bit random. The laser that shoots open some door was a pretty nice touch too, but after dying a few times because I tried to crouch underneath it, it was clear the laser was useless.Pretty nice, yet not very original. I give it a 7/10========================================================================Pufulet's mapPro's- Seems very balanced- Nice design- A lot of attention spent on detailsCon's- Some realism flaws. Is it an oil rig or just a random structure?- Small rooms might be useable for campingVerdict: Really nice map, good atmosphere. Really gives the feeling of a suddenly abandoned oilrig (?).Liked it a lot, so I give it a 9/10 Quote
Ywa Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Sorry for being so extremely late. To save some time I'll steal Mayco's Boter's form:Clavus' map:Pro's:- Confusing (in a good way)- Moving blocks, with partial player interactionCon's:- Blocky- Feels repetitive- Zombie spawns are kinda useless because we have random spawns tooVerdict:Very confusing, in a way that I like. It does feel repetitive however and it's hard to tell where you are. Plus it could've used more props. Plus it's another blocky map from you, wish it would've been different. 7/10========================================================================Darkness' map:Pro's:- I like the general rocket room- Interaction with players (buttons etc.)Con's:- Blocky- Feels like you've randomly picked props- THOSE GODDAMN LIGHTSVerdict:I'm sure the map will look a lot better with less lights and more right-placed lights. The HDR makes your current lights even shittier. However, I did like the interaction with the player (although nothing important seems to happen, except for the alarm). 6/10========================================================================Pufulet's mapPro's- Snow.- Great atmosphere- Fits ZS styleCon's- 3D skybox could've used some abounded ships and stuff like thatEdit: According to Botervloot there was 1 ship. I must have missed it.Verdict: I like snow. 8+/10 Quote
