Mr. Darkness Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Lets discuss about valve how do u think? what could be with steam if valve will be "destroyed"? Quote
TimbukTurnip Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 why is valve dying or something?regardless, there are many games on steam, valve dying or whatever wont create the same fate for steam Quote
Ywa Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I actually think they will be bought by EA or Google. Quote
Mayco Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) I think EA is their biggest enemy, though there is no reason to panic. EA recently added some of their titles to Steam and published Left 4 Dead. I do think they're becoming "friends", but Steam won't be destroyed by EA Games. Edited January 15, 2009 by Mayco Quote
Clavus Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Valve is doing just fine, they've got a strong range of titles, and they're making buckets with Steam. They only have a contract with EA for the retail products.I'm moving this to the Safehouse by the way. Quote
Damien Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 If Valve would die, than steam wouldn't change a lot. there would still be a lot of games and people will still be able to play half life Quote
Clavus Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 If Valve would die, than steam wouldn't change a lot. there would still be a lot of games and people will still be able to play half life If Valve suddenly went bankrupt there's a big chance Steam would come in bad weather too. It'd have to find a new company to take over the development and all player accounts. Quote
Mr. Darkness Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 I think Valve wont die, cos there are TOO many fans of Valve (I'm the one of them ), that wont let Valve die. The sons or some other fans/Guys that are working on Hl: black mesa will continue Valve (but maybe they may change Valves label). So thats my opinion. Why is this in the tutorial section? An accidentIf Valve suddenly went bankrupt there's a big chance Steam would come in bad weather too. It'd have to find a new company to take over the development and all player accounts. How I said, the moderators will continue their existing. Quote
Ywa Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 BumpNow I'm 100% sure. In the coming 10 years, Valve will be bought by Sony Computer Entertainment America.Arguments:- Sony starts to release more games to the PC platform (DC Universe Online for example, both PS3 and PC)- Sony stated they'll make a SDK + drivers for their Move controller for the PC (Portal 2 with Move, anyone?)- Microsoft has Microsoft Games for Windows Live (or whatever it is named) and combines it with Xbox Live + phones- Valve wants to expand with Steam (support for Mac, PS3 etc.). With Sony's support they can expand their platform even more (such as mobile phones). However, I'm sure if Valve would be bought, they would still be an independent company. Quote
Darkstar Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Isnt Razer doing something with motion based controls for Portal 2 on PC anyway? Quote
Ywa Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Isnt Razer doing something with motion based controls for Portal 2 on PC anyway?Yes. It's DLC. But I'm sure they'll add support for Move too, but I bet they wait with that announcement. Quote
Navo Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Not sure if Sony will still be in the gaming world in 10 years. Quote

And Steam is growing quite fast. Maybe in 10 years it will be bought by Sony, but I don't see drastic changes happening within atleast 10 years. Quote
Ywa Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Not sure if Sony will still be in the gaming world in 10 years. Why not? Quote
Botervloot Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) Sony has Sony Ericsson and they sell a ton of other things. And the PS2 STILL SELLS.They've got enough money to stay in the gaming biz and they have been in the gaming biz for a long time. Edited February 4, 2011 by Botervloot Quote
Clavus Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I think the people at Valve value their independence, doing things the way they want to. So I don't expect them to be bought by any company at all. Quote
Rinkana Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I hope they will release steam to linux. If that happens they might get to Sony. Quote
VMR Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I hope they will release steam to linux. This Quote
Mr. Darkness Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Oh. I see this topic is useful I rock for doing it. IM DA KING.But anyway, Valve might be bought anyway, but that wont affect on their games. Only the platform and the games will just work on Sony stuff, like it already does.(Daaamn, good. I feel that something will go "good" about that fat bastard.) Quote
Tom Klijbroek Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 That would be so weird. Gabe Newell hates the PS3. Quote
