Sys speccs & compare

Recommended Posts

I looked through the forum to find a thread about sys specs and how they perform. The only thread , which deals with rigs is the " Show us your...Rig! thread.

Why I put up this thread? Because I want you to post your specs ( CPU, GPU, amount of RAM and OS etc.), ingame graphics settings and how your sys perform in different games. So if somebody want to upgrade his/(her?) PC, he / she can look in this thread and see how much for example a new gpu could increase the performance. You can also argue about other systems, how to improve your performance and give tips for buying new stuff.

It is not a " Wow look at my upper 1337 pc" thread, so pls post real specs and fps (For those who doesn't know how to do, just download FRAPS it shows you the realtime fps during gaming)and don't make fun of other people because their systems aren't up2date or something else.

If you wanna show us the look of your rig then post the pics in here http://forums.left4green.com/topic/362-show-us-your-er-rig/

I start: Specs:

Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3,6 ghz

Gpu: 1x AMD Radeon HD 6950 @ shader mod + default clocks

Ram: 2x 2048 MB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 @ 1333 MHz CL7

SSD: Corsair Force Series 120GB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ES.2, 500GB, 32MB Cache

Mobo: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO

PSU: Seasonic X-750 Watt

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Game Benchmarks:

CSS: Resolution= 1920x1080, 8x MSAA + 16x af, ingame all maxed out

My fps never drops bellow 200 ( worst case) and max are about 450-500 ( but fps_max at 300)

---

Next game is BFBC2: Resolution see CSS, 8x MSAA , 16x af, ingame maxed out(even HBAO)

Fps @ Isla Inocentes Mp with 32 player: Well min. fps are about 45 ( when everything in front of me explodes) and max about 130, avg. is 70-80

---

Metro 2033 bench:

Settings: 1920x1080, Dx 11, Very High, 4x MSAA, 16x AF, Tessellation & Advanced DoF

( No advanced PhysX, cause I barely see any difference, one explosion during the bench and those few added particles don't make it looks better )

Results from all 5 runs:

Max.: 151,72 fps

Min.: 8,68 fps

Avg.: 41,2 fps

The results came with two graphics cards

---

3DMark11: Performance preset: 7776 (2 graphics card, CPU is the bottleneck) Also 2 cards

I'll add some other games, but now I want U to post your specs and performance

Core i5 750 @ 2.66ghz

4GB DDR3

Sapphire HD5850

Windows 7 Enterprise

Runs everything smoothly (constantly above 60 fps) on highest settings at 1080p. Wouldn't know why anyone would want more than a HD5850. Every frame above 60fps is wasted energy.

tbh anything above 24fps is wasted energy. Films run at 24fps and nobody ever complains that they are laggy. Even my 5770 can play any game at this speed with them still looking nice. The fact is, graphics are going to remain at the same level until new consoles come out and that is not going to be for at least another 3-5 years or so.

Because some people are using higher / custom anti-aliasing / super sample aa, which requires power.

Some people call them freaks other enthusiasts. Those peopele often play with a high resolution(2560x1600 and more), 3D gaming, multi monitor setups etc.

That's why nVdia and AMD are producing cards like the gtx 480 or the HD 5970.

Clavus: Everything above 60 fps can't be noticed. Because most screen have a limit of 60 Hz. However, physics will run smoother. And the general experience can become better above 60 too (read my reply to deathbycrowbar's post).

deathbycrowbar: Unlike movies, games never have a stable frames per second. For example. Frame 1 takes 50 ms to calculate. And Frame 2 takes 25 ms. Next frame is 50 again. If you watch it, it feels shocky. Same goes for 60 fps. The 60 frames are never stable. Thus when going above 60, there's a higher chance your screen picks a recent render. In movies there's always xx milliseconds between every frame. So it doesn't feel shocky/unstable.

This is the easy explanation. It works partially different. But that's relatively difficult to explain.

Not true. Firstly, frames per second can mean anything from rendering to computing. Secondly, as Ywa said, they aren't constant. Finally, this isn't a debate thread.

I will post some fps benchs later, but i cant use my computer for a while.

I really hate nvidia cards, they have cost me alot of money [ a 8600 gt with a factory error and a 9600 gso with a fried supply chip and a few years back my fx 5200 just didnt work nomore. All my ati cards i have ever bought still work, even an old 9600 pro works fine ]

Downloading FRAPS so I can test out some FPS. It runs most games pretty well. I can play BioShock2 on full amongst other games. I built it over 2 years ago though so it's well out of date (was the muts nuts at the time!). Just can't justify the cost of a mew build. I could just upgrade the RAM and GPU but I'd really like to move to an i7.

Upgrading the Ram is very important. Windows 7 with 2 gb isn't that good. And if you work with videocut or use other programms, which require cpu power / support HT, an i7 might be perfect, but if you just play computer games you should think about an AMD Phenom II X4 955 or an Intel i5 760. Both are good cpus which are pretty cheap and perfect for gaming. ;)
