CarPileUp
Just send my GTX460 because it made annyoing spoolingwhips (or w/e). Will get a HD6950 soon Quote Link to comment
Mayco
And @ MaycoFlashing a 6950 to a 6970 can save some money, but you lose your warranty and you can't be sure that the card can handle the higher clock rates. E.g. one of my flashed 6950s won't run 100% stabil, because of the memory clock rate so I have to underclock it a little bit.Yeah, I figured so. That's the reason why I didn't return it to the store, I really don't want any more unstable components in my computer. Quote Link to comment
oDi_W
i want a 6990 NOW! ive had it with my GTX260 SLI setup.not one game takes full advantage of it. that sucks. Quote Link to comment

CarPileUp
CarPileUp turn that PSU over and make the cables neater. When I turn it over, then I get weird vibration noises. Well yeah, I'll try to do some cable managment someday Quote Link to comment

Also 1KW for 2x GTX460? I thought the wattage from a GTX460 is pretty low. Edited February 9, 2011 by CarPileUp Quote Link to comment

CyriusG
You have to remember that the PSU is the most important part in the computer. People often forget that. Quote Link to comment
alwTicToc
The wattage for the 460 may be low, but the 950 at my clock spead is a beast. Overclock the i7 and it starts to get wattage hungry. Takes lots of juice. And I figured when I put this thing together I wanted upgradability and with that PSU I dont have to get a different one if I want beefier video cards someday. I had a 750w in it and it didnt cut it so why not overkill? Moar fun that way! Quote Link to comment

Juggernaut
Why no Sandybridge? I thought this question might come up. I wanted Sandybridge, in fact I was set on getting it. Then they pulled it. So I went with what I got. If I had waited, my wife or myself probably would have talked me out of a new build altogether and purchased something else. I do plan on upgrading to a i7 980x or 990x in the future and another 580 so I think I'm good to go regardless. Sandybridge is definitely good though and if someone out there is planning on building a new system with Intel I highly recommend it. Quote Link to comment
CarPileUp
And also, why 1000 Watt PSU? Quote Link to comment
Clavus
And also, why 1000 Watt PSU?Future proofing for the second GTX 580 I guess? Also from what I read, higher Watt PSUs are usually more efficient than lower rated PSUs. So a 1000 Watt PSU pulls a little less power than a 600 Watt PSU if your system requires 550 Watt to run, for example. Quote Link to comment
