It has never been said that it's allowed. It said that it cannot be policed. The majority of conversations surrounded Rei's minimap which provides no advantage to multiplayer gameplay. What you have is not a map: It's a radar. The difference being mobs and players are displayed - it would be impossible for someone to sneak up on you. It would also improve your raiding ability, as you wouldn't have to search an entire base, but rather focus on one co-ordinate to find a hiding player. I don't have time to find the exact quote from Clavus, so I will paraphrase: Client mods are not allowed, though some are impossible to detect (Rei's minimap). The only way to detect it is if someone posts a screenshot with it on - Now make of that what you will. But I highly advise you to uninstall it and stick to the rules. In his defense, Sphere are a peaceful faction and have probably made the coolest base on this map. Any advantage gained from the radar mod would be negated by the lack of PVP ability. But I doubt these kiddies have that sort of mental capacity, and if they did surely they'd have something better to hack than making someone on minecraft say "I love weenis". It was part of one of the hack clients at one point. There was a spate of reports in the hacking thread, here's one example I can find: Can't be bothered to trawl the whole thing, but if you see where it says the message after 'Info' it would be the dude above that said 'iron' then a bunch of those invisible characters (alt codes, the same ones used in triforcing) to force the text to a new line, then colour codes and text. Tekkit is a multiplayer version of the Technic Pack, and is essentially a client mod. It literally expands the gameplay of Minecraft beyond belief - you can have autonomous quarries that mine 64x64 areas and sort items into separate chests totally autonomously. The only issue I have found with it is the sheer damn scope of it. It's pretty hard to get a grasp on, but there are tutorial maps you can play. If anyone hasn't tried it, I would sincerely recommend it - I got a good 20 hours of gameplay out of single player again before I became too busy to play . I remember the first time playing on this server, and the subsequent times trying to find other servers to play on. This is the only server I've played on for more than a week, and though I've lost enjoyment in the PVP side of things it still interests me and I'm sure a lot of the newer players feel the same way as I used to in terms of novelty and plug in set up. I think that now Clavus has implemented the peaceful factions there's a lot more scope in terms of what you could do instead of raiding. The way I see PVP being improved and the returning of balance to maps, is if a) more teleporters are introduced, to allow less clumping together of factions. and One end portal is set as a safezone to prevent monopolisation of high powered enchants. Whilst it's great that you guys had the ingenuity and put in the work to get the end portals, it does play heavily on the Mojang acknowledged disparity of enchantment based PVP (which they're planning to rebalance soon). Minky and I were talking earlier and we have some really cool ideas, if they come to fruition it'd be awesome and a lot of fun in the process. And it has nothing to do with faction wars. I guess the point I'm trying to make is: yes a lot of us are tired with PVP since the changes or whatever. But with the peaceful faction the server is for all intents and purposes dedicated to building for your faction. One thing I don't think people realise is that when you're peaceful, you can't be claimed. So even if you only come on once a week to play, you won't log on and find the super epic penis model (Minky's idea, based on his actual peenor) claimed and griefed. Of course you do have to donate to receive the green coins. But considering how much I've seen a lot of you guys on, €5 isn't a lot in reflection to how much fun you probably used to have. If any of you guys wanted to, all the people who don't play as regularly or don't enjoy PVP could form peaceful factions, and each claim part of a far-flung biome. That way we'd each have seperate building areas, but know the bases around us will be attractive and won't get griefed, and the terrain won't be destroyed to the point of falling down an x-ray hole every 3 steps and losing the ONE diamond pick you've had all server (true story ). We could even all work on a communal theme each map, for example we could all do Minky's space idea our selves - Just a handful of us building with the same texture pack making cool intersteller space ship super hyper wars. I've seen this happen before, I believe it's a feature of the hack client. Some sort of chat griefer that basically inserts blank characters in the chat so the text is forced to a new line. They then just write your name and something you supposedly said and it looks like you said it, but if you check above you can still see the hackers name.

The 117 stack would be hacks - On Technic when you have Not Enough Items it can do this weird thing where it gives you 111 of an item, and whenever you use it it doesn't disappear. Though when you drop it and pick it back up it stacks to 64 and 47. Which means you have hacks.... or not

Jeb has mentioned changing the max enchantment level from 50 to 30 to reduce the gap in pvp and reduce the amount of XP needed for better items. Actually, in our case its more the game's, not the server's fault. All of us got fed up with the game after the armor update and enchanting which seriously wrecked the game for us. Yeah it's wrecked my enjoyment of the PVP aspect of Minecraft, which only accounts for what... 90% of the server? I wasn't trying to imply it's the server's fault we've all left, though it did sound that way. Just noting that there does seem to be a lot less players these days, certainly fewer familiar faces anyway. More than anything the reasoning behind this thread is because of the drastic changes Mojang have implemented means there really are only a handful of forum members that regularly play now, just thought this could be a way to get some of you guys involved again. I miss Pokemaster deeply.

Google 'Duping in 1.2.5 Using the nodus hack client.' It's one of the first results on youtube - If a server doesn't have protective measures it's possible as it's a loophole in the vanilla server config. I imagine it's a matter of the plugin overriding whatever reason the server gives for kicking a player whilst they use a client based command. I'd be interested to see how hacking and duping would work after they fully separate the client and server. You'd expect it there to be less exploits, but then again this is Minecraft.

It always amazes me that there's always some way to duplicate items on minecraft. Just googled it. Always wondered why people leave and rejoin the game so much, last time it was people pvp logging constantly, nowadays it's people logging off and on. Another reason PVP is bland these days

Would it be possible to code a plug in (if one doesn't already exist) that would auto-decay player placed blocks in the wilderness above a certain height? I dunno what the limitations with minecraft modding are. But you could perhaps include trees as man made after they have 2 or more blocks removed. Or some kind of biome regeneration, like the terraformer on buildcraft. To repair griefed land and make the maps more sustainable? I'd love to organise community stuff but with the amount I play recently, it would take me forever to get the blocks, let alone build the arena. But I'll see what I can come up with over the summer Edit: Oh and Minky: less people are playing the server. I have noticed I've not had any problems lately getting on, it's always been about 40-60/100. And a lot of the older players simply don't go on anymore. Mungols are no more, Rangers barely play, Vegeta, Mr. Darkness, Pokemaster, Jinrai and his band of merry men (not that that is a bad thing).
