  1. The plug in that the server uses does not work like that. You might want to consider rethinking your cover story before submitting any further ban topics. It is also worth noting that X-ray bans are permanent. If you wish to continue playing on this server, you will need to buy a new minecraft account. If you choose to do this, you now know that there are flawless methods in place to detect and ban x-ray users. If you don't use x-ray you won't ever run into this type of ban again.
  2. The issue with diamond armour is on the first few days when people with GCs just buy some and go round pawning nawbs all day long. There have been a couple of community suggested GC additions though, so it is possible. Though I've not seen any new ones in a while.
  3. That is pretty damn cool. Is it when anyone unclaims or just an admin? If it's available to the paupers it's probably not enabled because it'd be very CPU intensive, and any spammer could easily take out the server in a few seconds. It'd an interesting change to the server. But to be fair I don't know if the server does need changing, or if I'm just growing tired of it. Perhaps a bit of both. Perhaps you should suggest it and apply for janitor? Would be nice to have something to look at other than griefed land and half smashed bases.
  4. IMO pvp was killed by the move to 'adventure' mode. It was all well and good adjusting to the new system of hunger and health, but. Now it just makes it boring. There's no tactical side to it. It's just stand and mash lftclk and whoever has the best enchantments win. Before, plain armour meant you had to think on your feet, use flint and steel as well as your sword. Trap people, pick off weaklings. It made raiding harder, and more dynamic. If anything would rebalance the gameplay, it would be a plug in removing armour and weapon enchantments. It'd still be cool to have tools and potions, because it adds a use to the nether and a use for your exp. But it wont be such an integral part to the game. With multiplayer games, I feel that communal experience always suffers when time played directly means more strength. For example someone spending 24 hours a day getting wicked cool enchants will beat the poop out of anyone who only plays after school for a couple of hours. Without enchantments, sure there was a small gap where people had more tnt or arrows. But there were no unfair advantages.
  5. That would be cool, though Clavus seems to have purposely put the spawn in a crater this time. But I get what you mean about the sustainability. I hate massively complex spawns, but feel a little bit of information to help people on a central message board would help out a lot. I end up typing out a lot of the same stuff to new players, explaining about factions and the dynamic map and GC perks. It'd be nice to see an open but visually pleasing spawn. I dunno why but I have it in my head like a roman bath house. In it's current situation. I would personally hire not 'admins' as such. They wouldn't really be responsible for policing the server (though it's obviously handy to have them around when stuff like the serial spam abuse happens). But janitors. They'd all be grouped into one loving peaceful faction where they can build nice things and stuff (similar to that one map the Gods built some cool shit). But they would also be responsible for tidying up areas so that new factions can come and get some land that isn't totally griefed. A lot of bases are part claimed from factions that never play anymore, and for someone to remove it would take too long. Instead, have a team of people with access to world edit that can simply cut a base out, or those stupid one high towers people build to get up to sky bases. And generally freshen up the area (replace grass with the brush tool, replant forests, repair tnt griefing) I have noticed the area around the spawner looking tidier lately so perhaps this already happens. It would increase the longevity of the maps (also reducing the issue with GC items 'lost' so often), allow for more epic base construction and set a consistency to the server. For example it could be the case we have a new map every three months on the first day of the month. That way people know what to expect, and how long to spend on their base. I reckon with the next 1.2.6 update there won't be the need to refresh the map as much (if the modding API is implemented) so it really would be at top crew's discretion. And hopefully we'll finally have some stability with the plug ins with a more modular approach, meaning they'll all be cross compatible with little coding effort required. I'd like to see a lot more teleporters as well. We have a huge map but few people make use of it because it's just so mundane sitting in a boat for 20 hours only to get killed by a skeleton when you reach your dream island. I think if there were these janitors, people could 'buy' a teleporter in their base that's linked to one at spawn (not sure if its possible with the current plug in, but would be wicked cool) and the janitor can go and install it. Whenever I write a long post. I'm usually supposed to be doing some form of revision. This post is no exception, so I shall take my leave! Adieu.
  6. Just have Luke and your college buddies. Then I'm sure you could persuade some people from the old left4green faction to quickly sign it and boost your power up. They never have to sign in again as long as you remain peaceful. To be honest I think I prefer it that way, enchantments have kind of killed the joy of PVP for me. I'd prefer to only allow enchanted tools on a server like this.
  7. I think you'd enjoy peaceful mode Minkypie. There's the interesting fact that you can't be claimed over. So you could get everyone to join your faction, claim some land, let them leave and just have a huge area to build in. Perhaps you can finally make the dreams of the utopian seaside village a reality? It's been helping a lot with our recent inactivity. I think we're about 10 power over what we're allowed but still have all our base Plus if we go back to raiding during the summer we usually have a disturbing surplus of materials we'd never have time to use. So you can nab them
  8. Update (16/05/2012): Currently at war with: No one. Currently enemies with: No one. Currently allies with: No one. What have we become
  9. You're wrong, actually. You just screen record. Fight them and get butt raped. Then submit the video to the hacker reporting thread. If they're not actually hackers and just better at the game than you. Do be prepared for us all to laugh at you though...
  10. They're not doing anything that you can't do with vanilla minecraft (non-modified). Make your glass double thick, or use vines. If you've seen Rangers' base it's surrounded by vines, as they stop enderpearls and hopefully TNT. Just went to see who steve2003 is. His most active sub forum is bans and unbans, accounting for 50% of all his posts. Poor bastard.
  11. I like you.
  12. What texture pack do you use? It's nice.
  13. Dude you posted the same images from Turismo Airport. Or you linked the wrong map.

  15. Still wondering where my Mozzie-Fort is :(

  16. Yeah, that spleef (so hard not to type queef) tournament was really fun. Even though we effing sucked at it, it was a fun experience. Hopefully we can get more frequent ones. It'd be cool to get community organised events. Like the guys doing the treasure hunt, I think is wicked. I've seen some guys have built an arena. Thing's have changed a lot from the days of just bashing people with my leftclk, and smiting them with my f claim. But at the same time, there's a lot more to do. No amount of enchantments can protect against a decently skilled 2 on 1. All you need to do is catch one person off guard, grab a good sword and the non battered gear and keep on building like you were before. Back in beta, instead of 'fancy enchants' people just had 'diamond gear' and that was sooo over powered. And it was a fight to get the diamond pieces, then a fight to get the diamonds. Then you just kind of sit around like shit what do I do now? And then it was boring. Now, it takes a lot, lot longer to get to the top of the factions, and only the best people are the bordest. All of the rest of them are doing treasure hunts and gladiator fights.
  17. It's not really as black and white as paying for power. When you donate money it goes to running the server. For those that do donate: For those that want to donate: For those who do not, and do not want to donate: Don't do drugs, kids.

  19. We locked some dude in our dungeon for a good four hours. He eventually log-glitched out the cell and slept in one of the 'Guard's beds'. Now every time he dies he respawns in our dungeon, and it takes him about 20 minutes to get out.
  20. You are not in my faction and I do not know you.
  21. Two dudes, one of them naked, Donald Duck and Link. What the eff am I looking at?
  22. Ah okay that's not very big in the grand scheme of things. Build up to about 15 minimum to make it effective. Search youtube for effective SMP mob grinders and you'll get a bunch of designs.
  23. I love how everyone politely ignores when someone makes a duplicated topic. It's a really interesting human behaviour. Well not me friends!
  24. Okay that is pretty cool. I want the farming one for my KFC franchise I'm opening.
  25. 'large amounts of mobs will randomly spawn in there' Isn't that what it's designed for? You can increase the chances of mobs spawning somewhere by lighting up the surrounding area to the max. It needs to look like a Whoville Christmas out there. That way the monsters will have less places to spawn in the selected and surrounding chunks, and be pushed to you. Also check underneath the tower for caves, which could be detracting from your spawns. And finally, make sure it's big enough. It needs to be pretty damn big, preferably with several floors to provide optimal spawning. If all else fails, just find a spawner and create a water ladder grinder (Google is your friend)
