MineCraft: The solution to the servers problems
awesomeo_5000 replied to Dr.Minky's topic in Minecraft
The main MP version is tekkit I think, and it would require everyone to download a client to play. Not to mention the sheer vastness of what's included in that mod - a lot of redundant features for something we have a dedicated plug in for. That being said, buildcraft is god damn amazing, and the technic pack is even better. -
I'm all for it on single player, and small private servers with your friends. But I feel it has taken the fun out of pvp for me, there's no 'va-va-voom' anymore. Of course this is just a curse of being a comparatively early player, all the newer minecrafters probably love the PVP because they don't know any different. I think the days of Rangers are over. I can't see us ever returning to raiding for more than 4 hours, and I can't really build anything too cool with the map being reset so often. I might just become the server's tramp and beg for iron ingots around spawn.

You got out while it was still sort of good Really would love one map back in pre-adventure mode days.

MineCraft: The solution to the servers problems
awesomeo_5000 replied to Dr.Minky's topic in Minecraft
What do you mean by offices? I'll reply based on my assumption: I don't know, it depends how Clavus would want to run things. But in my mind there would be a second class of 'employed' players (in addition to admins) who have a communal responsibility to make sure things like biome clean ups or event hostings get done. How they choose to delegate their time and responsibility is up to them: As long as the work gets done. Creating more roles for individual tasks would just add another layer of complexity to it. -
MineCraft: The solution to the servers problems
awesomeo_5000 replied to Dr.Minky's topic in Minecraft
There needs to be a hierarchal structure in terms of power; Ultimately Clavus and YWA would be in charge, filtered down through the various levels of administration. Then Janitors, then Greens, then regulars. Of course this is only superficial. How the faction is run in terms of playing for enjoyment vs. utilitarian roles would be totally up to whoever's in the faction and their strengths and weaknesses. I think the important thing to take from this thread is not necessarily the faction side of things, but the idea of 'Janitors' - in whatever form - that go around maintaining the world and introducing more community focussed events to drive donations. A lot of people are unaware of the GC shop, and the Janitors would act as a walking advertisment: Oh how do I get a peaceful faction. Wait I don't see you on the map you hacker how do you do that! etc. -
MineCraft: The solution to the servers problems
awesomeo_5000 replied to Dr.Minky's topic in Minecraft
It's always been this servers style to have a minimalistic spawn. And having it so close to newcomers eyes would only make them ask 'How does one noble chap like myself become one of these 'Janitors'?' repeatedly. Not to mention it's kinda flaunting it in peoples faces. I prefer Average Joe's ethos to Globo Gym's: 'We're better than you, and we know it.' -
MineCraft: The solution to the servers problems

Ah, it appears you don't know. As of the 29th of May 2012, EU legislation will require all Minecraft servers to install a proprietary modular API that monitors various chat protocols and communication measures. All information is relayed to the Fight Against Geoterrorism Supercomputer (can't remember the acronym), which analyses all information and filters potential terrorist groups into watch lists. This is all following a survey conducted by Gregs, Baker and Pies that found 90% of terrorist groups use Minecraft as a dynamic and interactive schematic for planning terrorist attacks. PS. I don't see Minky's penoor. I am disappoint. -

What appears sketchy about it? All criticism is welcomed good or bad. But it'd help if you put forward reasons behind your judgement. Also, the glitch to spawn glitch (wait, what?) is exactly that. A glitch. Which means it could be patched at any time. And as far as I know, you cant do it on Mac (Apple's weird Java logic). I personally would rather walk in some boss looking room with a teleporting block than faff about with two clients. More teleporters would be good - advanced idea inside, but don't want to detract from the threads aims: -
Haha the compliments and insults do balance themselves impeccably. I tend to act like a retarded 12 year old on MC to avoid people constantly pestering me. Little do they know I am in fact 20. I don't even know what my forum posts are. They're usually an indication of what state my life's in, the more in depth and coherent the post, the busier I'm supposed to be with academia. To avoid bumping with off-topic-ness: I wouldn't personally want to be a janitor, but thanks for your vote of confidence

You see. I get that a lot, which makes it more satisfying when I say: I'm not an admin. Everytime someone says 'OMG ADMIN ABUSE IM GOING TO REPORT YOU' I encourage it, and hope someone is indeed stupid enough to post about me killing them with super admin god mode and then gets pimp slapped by society. It's a phenomenon with the human ego that isn't restricted to Minecraft - if someone's better at you at something, but you believe they aren't, you think they're cheating. Sadly when the line between 'better' and 'worse' is a mere half-block wide, accusations are thrown around more frequently.

Hi, my name is Bob, and I approve this message. Future self quote, haters what? -
Don't you have the real world to admin? I'm a little sad this went unnoticed, so there it is quoted again. As mentioned, whilst somewhat entertaining to read words don't get anyone anywhere since the 80s. Now it's all about cold hard evidence and all that jazz. The one experience I have of LRG is attacking them one or two maps ago. I was instantly bombarded with hacking accusations because they were oblivious to the existence of ender pearls. They're a bit more tactical than your average faction and if they had the same members now as then, they're decent in combat. Equally, Mathijs et al. are experienced MC-ers and responsible players. What I see happening here is two of the better factions on the server going head to head, and finding it odd they're finding it a challenge; I experienced exactly the same thing when we we're active. When you fight someone that is instantly 10x better than the casual, younger players you're suspicious. The issue lies in the disparity of 'skill' of the server (where skill is equal to knowledge, experience or connection speed interchangeably). People are either ultra-noobs and get insta-pwned. Or they're good players and give a challenge. I've only ever had a handful of battles (all several maps ago as well) where I've thought 'God these guys are so damn average' it's always more 'EAT MY BLADE NUBE' or 'OMG I'M GETTING PWNED HALP GAIS'.

When the custom books come out I'm going to do an Elder Scrolls type hunt. Hide 4 books and whoever brings us all four will get some kind of uber prize (probably emeralds). I also want to make a casino, where people can bet on the odds of a chicken spawning from a group of 4 dispensers. Or pig races.

21 Reasons Why the Map Reset is a Good Thing
awesomeo_5000 replied to AutomatedMoose's topic in Minecraft
In what way? There are thousands of trees on any given map. And hopefully having them would stop fags just cutting three blocks and leaving it. There are also plugins to automatically replant saplings. -

The whole tree thing annoys me more than it probably should. I like things to look clean in minecraft, not all these weird green cloud like things. Would we be able to install treecapitator Clavus? Or a some sort of plug in that sets an auto decay on the wood if its not connected to the ground? -
Awesomeo_5000 - big tittie twisters. Oh no wait I mean Rangers.

"Working" Plugin To improve logging out during pvp
awesomeo_5000 replied to marcus6x6's topic in Minecraft
So is third trimester abortion, but such is life. I wouldn't sweat it too much, when the modding API is sorted these sorts of issues should iron themselves out. Yeah it's going to suck balls for a couple of months but when it's finally sorted it will be better than ever -
Yeah I like videos that cut to the point. There are some other cool features from previous snapshots. The most notable for me being the ABILITY TO HIDE CHAT. Jesus christ minecraft.nl will be so much more enjoyable. Less wicked-awesome features include: Cocoa Pods (plant on jungle trees, grows into cocoa) Named Blocks (Oak, Birch, Jungle and Spruce (ithink) wood, heiroglyphic sandstone, smooth sandstone etc) Pyramids (and sand NPC villages, explorable, contain loots and traps, and a decent amount of TNT) Silk Touch (allows picking up of ice and glass panes again) Fixed ladder collision issues. 4 different wood colours (stacking issues say whatttt) Return of the 8 gold block golden apple (Super buff apple, gives you lots of resistances to fire and damage and regen) Super smooth biomes, fixes to 'flat' terrain. Dispensers push out liquid, leaving bucket when activated (so you can make lava traps or fire extinguishers) And with the Modding API (distant by the sounds of it) the server and client will be separated. Now I don't really know what that even means but it allows you to invite friends to your SP game without any hassle or server set up. There's more, but those are the first to mind and thus probably the coolest.

"Working" Plugin To improve logging out during pvp
awesomeo_5000 replied to marcus6x6's topic in Minecraft
We previously used Combat Tag. But for some reason it spazzed out. The rumours are when the server shut down, Combat Tag created an NPC version of the server and proceded to pwn its balls. The server has been butt mad ever since and refused to play properly with it. -
I always found it really hard to cover any sort of large area with lava on the server. The tick rate means lava spread is just straight up retarded. Though in theory you'd just need a sequence of blocks spaced in a pattern with source blocks on top: + + + + + + + + + + + + The lava flow in each cardinal direction would create a mesh. But it would take a) A shit ton of lava and A shit ton of time. So I'm calling hack client/glitch.
