  1. Minecraft update 1.8 will be released September 2nd! This update is massive, bringing new blocks, mobs, game mechanics, and more! Go check it out for yourself here. Once bukkit is released for 1.8, the following changes below will occur on our server. General Server Changes We are dropping the lobby idea, temporarily. All servers will still remain. By default, all users will join the factions server. The idea for this is grow our player-base on our most popular server (factions), then reintroduce the lobby idea when our mini-game development is done by RedGander. Factions Introduction of Star-Caches! Whenever player-count reaches 30, a message will be broadcasted announcing the start of a "Star-Cache" event. The coordinates of the starcache will be revealed in the broadcast message (There will be 3 predefined areas for these events to be, each labeled with a dynmap marker). A 5 minute countdown will commence, giving factions time to ready themselves for battle. Once the countdown reaches zero, loot will spawn in the chests around the coordinates given. Whoever gets the loot will walk away rich.... perhaps some super-powerful tools, weapons, armor.... that is if they can get out of there alive . Enchantment and potion limits will remain. I saw much more PvP this map, and it worked well. New Creeper mechanics will be put into full force. Obsidian, water and lava will not protect against them. You'll have to be smart about your base designs in order to survive. TnT is going to be nerfed somewhat, due to extremely over-powered grief mechanics with the addition of slime blocks in 1.8. Creepers will spawn abundantly, in place of this. More delays regarding the GC shop. Clavus' GC plugin will be nullified with name changes in the upcoming update. Addition of a /spawn command.Keeping pearl/snow-ball mechanics.Addition of a new admin to our team! If you haven't submitted an app already, feel free to do so. One candidate will be chosen in the next couple days. Addition of cool spawn builds/parkour (think pirate ship map)Factions 1.6 branch will return! PvP Server Removal of the punch 2 bowsNew FFA mapCreative We'll probably have to start a new world, due to some uncontrollable chunk error issues. Survival Possibility of going public soon. Highly doubt it. Please post any suggestions or comments in this thread. Thanks! More news to come soon....
  2. Denied. You have at least 10 alts to play with, use those.
  3. Let me tell you why the server was popular back then: 1. Dupe glitches/pearl glitches. This allowed for unlimited PvP and raiding. Everyone had crap tons of TnT, obsidian, diamonds, weapons, etc. 2. Inactive admins. There were virtually no admins on to moderate any of duping, so it went unchecked. The game was popular in every sense because of the unmoderated dupe glitch. Let me tell you why the server died: 1. Right after the map where we had 120/120, Clavus hosted a building contest. Switching to creative from factions is not a good idea. This drove away 90% of our player-base. Right after this, we had several poorly planned maps, which drove away even more players (jungle map, enchanting towers, potion areas, etc). 2. The dupe glitches/pearl clips were patched in vanilla minecraft. This means that people couldn't raid as much as before. Whenever changes were made to accommodate, people raged about changing the "vanilla" theme of the server, when the server was never really vanilla in the first place. This puts us admins in an extremely difficult position; I can't really do much to renable the pearl glitches/duping. Instead, I've tried to increase raiding/PvP opportunity, and make it easier to get gear. This 1.8 map will bring further changes, as mentioned above.
  4. There's a bad chunk somewhere that's crashing the server. We'll most likely have to start a new world.
  5. Not if the no-cheat plugin is working. You can still fly a few blocks, and if you reconnect all the time, you will get there Uh, this shouldn't be possible? Nocheat is 100% activated this map and flying doesn't work.
  6. I talked to RedGander last night and the star cache idea is now in development! Additionally, we will add some kind of dungeon/parkour for factions to go through somewhere on the map, as you suggested - with rewards.
  7. Yeah, I guess a larger map wouldn't help. Are there any ideas to discourage people sitting in their bases, and instead go out to PvP? I think that's one of the main probelms. That and getting gear. Also might add easier ways to get potions. Something like another server I saw; using a "staff" of speed, which has a cooldown. Seemed pretty cool.
  8. 1. An original minigame was in the works by RedGander, but he's since lost interest in developing stuff for the server. Hiring an external dev would cost hundreds of dollars for a minigame. 2. I had many ideas for implementing greencoins into the server, including an in-game shop GUI, rewards for mining, woocutting, etc, and rewards for events. These have all been nulled by the fact that the GC database was lost + the way GC are used are being changed. In any case I really don't see GC being used on the server anytime soon, without Clavus as our dev. 3. There's a polling system. We just have to find stuff worth voting on Anyways the server's future is indeed dismal. Minecraft has evolved into something that kids exploit for money. Even players favor "OP giv donor R@nk$" servers over legit servers. As I stated on the temporary forums, I'm only going to be active when I have the time, so updates are going to come a lot slower. I'll list a couple upcoming changes/thoughts though, for the 1.8 update: Dropping the 'lobby/network' idea. Players will by default join the factions server. The PvP practice server and FFA will remain, using the same commands as before (/pvp, /ffa). The creative server will also be accessible.Keeping all enchant/potion limits for factions. They worked out well - tons of PvP.Keeping increased ore spawn ratesAddition of HD dynmap to factionsSomewhat larger map sizeKeeping markers/pearlsRemoval of punch II bows from PvP practicePvP contests moved to once a month. Potential stuff: Automatic "Star Cache" events. Whenever player-count hits 30-40, a countdown will begin (5 minutes or so). When the timer runs out, loot will spawn in designated chests (armor, materials, potions, etc). This encourages PvP/fighting over resources./spawn command?TBD Anyways feel free to discuss anything you want. I'm open to more suggestions.
  9. If this happens then it could mean two things. You're doing something terribly wrong or you are unaware of the rules. In this case it's both. You keep violating the rules and you don't seem to understand for what you're getting muted for. Even when you are muted, you keep going by changing your faction name. EDIT: This 22 minute video shows you the reason why I muted you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE_ocrw0WKs Seeing some of those messages, I don't argue at all with the mutes. Respecting chatmods is clearly defined in our server rules. However, xpr0, you are expected to hold yourself in a higher esteem than that of a general player on our server. You shouldn't be swearing, disrespecting, or inciting aggravation at our players. I'm not saying that you've done this, per say, (couldn't be bothered to go through chat logs as they're in Dutch), but just keep these things in mind. Unmuting megajosh for now, as long as he behaves himself in the future. And now, stay on topic please.
  10. Since I'm not paid at all, the attention I give to the server is 100% from my free time. Once 1.8 rolls out I'll start being a bit more active with updates, but that all depends on how busy I am.
  11. What will probably happen is keeping faction data (name, members; land claiming is still erased) on map resets. That way people are in the same factions, and there's no need to claim names.
  12. Currently in progress of making that spawn. But creepers keep blowing up the teeth of the face :/
  13. This video shows you force-fielding. You'll remain banned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zhRfOklACU
  14. it doesn't, should be resetted if you do /spawn and logging off (I think) Yeah this is what's supposed to happen. I can't really do anything, since it's red's plugin. Speaking of which Red has been missing for the past couple days, and hasn't responded to my Skype messages (all 50 of them). Also: my router is arriving tonight so I can finally look at the all the ban reports
  15. Sorry for the lack of reply, I'm waiting for Ywa to make the Minecraft "sub-forum" page (something new he has planned), then'll be making some major posts regarding suggestions/upcoming changes. I'll just say we have some exciting stuff coming up on all the servers, plus one new , 100% custom, one coming later!
  16. Denied. Your in-game attitude is deplorable. You accused a player of admin abuse, when he wasn't even an admin. Grow up before you even start thinking about being in a position like this. Besides, I appoint chat mods on people I see fit, so making an application here is useless.
  17. I accept this wonderful applicant! But really, going through all the old apps and cleaning stuff up.
  18. This thread should be ignored, since it's over a year old . It's only here because of the outdated backup. Though in the longterm, looking at something like this for factions
  19. Bahahaha this backup is before I was even admin Glad to see the forums back though.
  20. Love the idea, awesomeo, but I remember Clavus saying that he didn't want an economy somewhere. I'm sure it can be disabled in the towny config or with some custom coding. Maybe the money could be replaced with actual resources, ie. Paying 15 diamonds a week in replacement for membership in a nation. This makes me really excited for what's coming up. I imagine three nations with multiple cities across the map, duking it out for control of resources and land.

    PLEEEASE

You have to be allied in order to share chests/land access. A "Truce" is similar to the last system's alliance.
  22. Well, someone suggested the Towny plugin earlier. It's basically what you said Clavus- settlements without pvp that can be limited. You can give the permissions to start a "Town" to specific players. That player then can make a settlement and invite players. It's grief proof as well, as the town land is limited to the town's inhabitants. I also think you do something like /f owner in factions to owner of chunks. Basically 3-4 players would own towns, in which they would invite players to be a part of their settlement. Now this will obviously uproot the player base, so I suggest to give it some time. Couldn't find it on bukkit, but they have their own website: http://palmergames.com/towny/ If something like this happens, without pvp or whatever, I'll be inclined to make stuff like this (been working on it in creative for awhile):
  23. Well, I've officially lost all faith in the Minecraft server ever being revived to it's former glory. Usually upon map resets the server is full for a couple days; I haven't seen it full once since the recent reset. It's barely half occupied. Quite frankly, I believe the server has passed a point of no return, due to a variety of reasons: 1. As much as I respect Clavus' decisions regarding the server, they simply have driven away many players. How can an admin who doesn't even play on the server decide what's best for it? Sure, Clavus has years of experience under his belt regarding administering servers, but too much has changed for those years of experience to be practical. 2. The Minecraft community in general has devolved to, a group of young kids. The older Minecrafters simply don't play anymore. I remember giving an 8 year old guy some supplies to get started (later quit). The server environment promotes success as a result of hard work- something the majority of players on the server (children) simply don't have the patience to do. The result? A bunch of noobs sitting in water cubes or running around spawn. 3. The quality of playing has also decreased dramatically. I joined at a time where the server was already declining, and only got a taste of the epic faction wars that once were. I downloaded an old MrGreen Save and I was simply amazed by the scale of some the old bases, like LRG's or Discord's. You don't find that at all now. Everyone sits in water cubes grinding away on enchants, only leaving to spawn kill noobs with nothing. PvP is near impossible without someone spamming 10 damage potions at you. For these reasons, I have decided to stop playing MrGreen MC actively. There's simply no point. There's no PvP action, no one to appreciate a base well built and no hope in sight for anything to be fixed. Despite the player counts, MrGreen was always fun. It was so addicting- the atmosphere of competition was intense. Was. I'd be happy to see the server a simple survival server, or anything really. Something that reflects the quality gaming MrGreen is known to provide. I'm starting to get the feel the admins just don't like the server anymore. If you want to get rid of it, or stop it, please don't leave us hoping for a better future. Sincerely, a severely nostalgic MCer
