  1. Random concept #3: Break the other team's stuff. - 2 teams, separated by a wall of about 3 meters high - Each team has a large set of crates (maybe other props) they need to protect - Teams have a set of equipment: A team cannon gun: right click 'absorbs' a team member, left click shoots him from your gun. This is the only way to get players over the wall. A crowbar, to break stuff. A submachinegun, to kill players that launch over the wall to your side. - Once you're launched over the wall, you lose your submachinegun. You keep the team cannon and crowbar. - Every prop that is broken respawns at side of the team that broke it. - The team with the most props on his side at the end of the round, wins. This actually sounds pretty fun. Mainly because of the player launching.
  2. Random concept #1: Build to the top (sorta): - There are 2 to 4 teams - Players have gravgun (without punt) - They use crates to build higher and higher (crates freeze in the air) - On specific spots floating high up in the map are special boxes that can only be opened if you deliver a melon - Melons spawn on the ground, thus requiring the players to go up and down his own structure - These special boxes might contain: Points to win the game Specific equipment - Specific equipment might consist of: A rope gun that picks up stuff from the ground (basically allowing you to catch stuff on the ground from higher up) A gun that can destroy a few enemy crates Random concept #2: This is one is partially based on a Game Maker game I once played - Small teams of about 3 persons at most - Players can fly around freely - You stack stuff on one another to build a tower of props - There is a certain minimum height your tower needs to reach, if your tower is below this height, your team loses points, if your tower is higher, it gains points - During the game, several obstacles will try break your tower: NPCs of some sort? Cannons that shoot new props (but might topple your tower) - You should be able to fight these obstacles / enemies somehow. - The highest amounts of points your team had during the game will determine your teams final score - Team with the highest score wins - NOTE: I should use Propper to make building block models in Hammer. DISCLAIMER: If you use these ideas I have the right to receive half the prize money you win
  3. It's not a good concept for a Fretta gamemode. Rounds shouldn't last longer than 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. It'll be different from IW. It might even contain no shooting at all! Just need to come up with the perfect idea.
  5. You must own the rights to all the content in the gamemode (except the Valve stuff GMod has mounted of course) so no additional models / music unless it's custom made for you.
  6. http://frettacontest.facepunchstudios.com/ Garry is launching a gamemode coding contest shortly to support the Fretta gamemode base. I plan on entering. Prizes (this is where it gets good): As you can see, pretty astonishing. SO. I'm putting down criteria for my gamemode, and try to develop that one killer idea: * The gamemode will be used in the Fretta framework, so it's cycled with other gamemodes. Thus the game shouldn't last too long. * I want it to have co-op. * It needs to have good replay value. * It needs to be damn fun. Any of my previous ideas don't fit in these criteria, so I need to think up a brand new one. You guys can join the brainstorming session if you want.
  7. Let's... not.
  8. Haha, great work EmRA. Your explosion/muzzle flash editting is still crappy though
  9. Crits aren't completely random, they are meant to be rewards for killstreaks. Your chance of crits increase with the damage you do within a timeframe. From the TF2 wiki:
  10. Yup. I can confirm it works.
  11. Re-did the whole topic because sv_search_key works terribly. mm_dedicated_force_servers is the way to go. Read the instructions in the first post!
  12. Re-build a movie / game scene.
  13. First banner I made for Mr. Green, just after I started modding. Nostalgia'd. Was before GMod went to the Orange Box engine.
  14. But but but this is the internet :<
  15. Log out of Steam (File->Change User, in Steam menu) and log back in.
  16. mm_dedicated_force_servers is an console command that forces the game to search only for dedicated servers you set with this command. You enable your console by going to options->keyboad->advanced->enable developers console. Then press the ~ sign on your keyboard. Execute this command in console BEFORE making a lobby: mm_dedicated_force_servers 87.238.173.207:27030 This way you can start Versus or Survival games and play them on the exclusive Mr. Green L4D2 server. More servers can be added by seperating them with a comma, like: mm_dedicated_force_servers 87.238.173.207:27030,87.238.173.207:27040 Do note that you can't find any other games while searching as lobby leader if this command is set to specific IPs. You'll have to reset it to a blank again if you want to be able to search for other servers.
  17. More people seem to have this issue. Valve's looking into it according to the HLDS mailing list.
  18. The whole point of fake players is to make random players to join more frequently, enlarging the chance that two people join at the same time and start playing together long enough for other people to join. Fake players are meant to kickstart the server. I'm still thinking of controlling it somehow that it's off in the morning (when almost no Europeans are on anyway), so that it's less rage-educing when somebody joins, and turn it back on in the afternoon to kickstart the server.
  19. I rather find a good solution for the stalemates on CTF/CP (that doesn't involve taking away the fast respawn, or cranking up fake player counts), because that's what makes that server unpopular lately. Much less players on there compared to the other servers.
  20. In Arena you often play a lot more efficient if you're a skilled player. Can't do much about that. Lot of hassle to make the points differ per server, and the balance would probably still be off. And we're not taking out crits. There are enough no-crit / oh-so-perfectly-balanced game servers out there (that no-one cares about). Yes crits kan make you rage at times, but they save your ass just as often.
  21. Shush, Don't be so harsh on the kid, You did well! If you don't get criticism you don't know what people like.
  22. I recommend you get yourself a singer, because to be honest, you just don't have a singing voice. Piano's a bit off at times, it doesn't have a clear rhythm. Keep practising.
  23. Clavus

    Zombieland

Theatre movie. It's doing quite well too at the box office.
  24. Clavus

    Zombieland

Intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao6Mdir0RVg You'll find nothing closer to "Left4Dead the movie" than this. International release dates can be found here. Won't be shown in the Netherlands till the 14th of January though . It's already showing in Yankee land.
