NECROSSIN Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 SOPA wants only power and revenge. Also its one of the 2012 'holy shit' reasons Quote
TheGreenGrasshopper Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 SOPA has been stopped (for now) by president Obama himself so we can ignore that for a while. Now PIPA is still being discussed but I don't really remember what that one is all about. It's quite clear that if SOPA would have passed, the internet would get screwed over big time. Even though it only affects the USA it would still have a major impact here seeing how most of the popular sites are based in the USA. Quote

Corby Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I support some of SOPA's methodology. However the means by which they are putting it across makes it too controversial and controlling if abused. Therefore I don't support the bill in full. BlueYoshi97 and Luke Nukem 2 Quote
Tom Klijbroek Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I think this whole SOPA thing is a bit boring actually, I don't really care what it's all about, it's just that Wikipedia was offline so I couldn't copy/paste my schoolwork from it anymore. Quote

If the US does pass it, it will put pressure on UK politicians to implement something similar. If that went ahead and it seemed to work the EU would also be inclined to impose similar rulings. Hence affecting your internet. At the moment though, it doesn't affect any of us. Quote

Tom Klijbroek Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 But our local wikipedia reads as if it was written by a bunch of alcoholic housewives, I don't consider it to be a reliable source. Anyway, I find the whole SOPA-thing a bit boring, but Adriaan, you know Adriaan from Bassie & Adriaan, like he always said: whatever happens, always keep smiling. Quote
VMR Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 How the hell did SOPA and PIPA get this far in the first place Quote
