Hello Everyone,
 
 
This map, I've decided to go ALL out on building an epic base. I usually just make an obsidian sphere with a castle like surrounding, but I'm completely redoing my style and doing something different. 
 
I do find, however, most factions just stick themselves into an ugly water cube or underground obsidian shack and call it a day on their base. This makes the maps dull and boring. 
 
This is why I've decided to create a Building Contest for the server! (I won't enter myself). It'll be boring if I'm the only one that makes a big base and everyone just lazes around in water cubes, so I want some competition! Additionally, this will give players a motivation to play (perhaps our long missed admin Clavus who likes building) other than PVP, which will PERHAPS aid our flailing player base. 
 
Mathijs will handle rewards. 
 
The contest will end halfway during the map, giving players time to build and use their prizes in pvp. Assuming normal maps are 2-3 months, the contest will end April 20th, in which that time I (or a possible admin) will judge your bases. 
 
If I end up judging, I will base my decision on the following categories:
 
    Outside Apparel: How the base looks from a raider's point of view
 
    Inside Apparel: How the base looks from the inside
 
    Contraptions: How many cool redstone, mob traps, etc you have, and how they function
 
    Functionbility: Is your base all looks or does it do it job? (ie. TNT proof, easy to defend or not, secure)
 
    The "X" factor/bonus: Anything that makes your base pop out from the rest

I think this is a really interesting idea, seen it on a few servers and it does add another interesting element to the game, especially faction wars. Taunting enemies with the fact that you've killed them is like adding more to the concept of faction wars. Having spoken to a few people, it really seems like a common opinion that this would be a good idea, maybe even just for a trial.
Although we do understand it could cause lag or other issues, please contemplate it.

Make it so only 1 head is available per player.
 
The 1 head will be given to whoever has killed said player the most times
 
e.g. I kill denby 50 times so I have his head, but then megabananabandit kills him 51 times and so she has his head. Then THAT would be a reaaaal trophy room.

It's a really good idea... I played a server with this plugin. What i say: It's fuckin' awesome. I love it. I made a room called:"Room of Death Players" where i put all player heads as trophies.

Me and Mega think it would be a great idea if we had this plugin installed on L4G.
When we kill someone in PVP, this plugin allows us to keep our opponents heads as a trophy so we can keep them, put them on a stick and display them or wear the head to impersonate them.

I would rather refrain from posting my Skype ID, as having someone's Skype username makes them vulnerable to network attacks. I have many MrGreen community members added, however, and I will add anyone that PM's me in game. Minecraft NameKodauer Previous Administrator ExperienceI have briefly moderated a friend's server, for the relatively short while it was active. There were no complaints to my judgement. Here, I gained much knowledge about server side commands, attaining mastery over them.
I also administered a server for awhile, just for fun. I helped the owner set up all his plugins and such. People favored me over him for my fair judgement.
Although nothing in comparison to moderating a server, I have been the leader of the faction "Equalists" for about 6 maps. We're one of the more powerful factions and most highly organized. I maintain a player base of about 15-20 people, all of whom are highly appreciative and respective of my judgement on kicks, invites, and other business. Skills/traits/details that may be useful to the MrGreen Minecraft CommunityI am, hate to brag, a master at the World Edit mod. I know all the intricate details of working it, and the powerful capabilities it has. I used it on the server I administered and had no issues with disastrous commands or self indulgent actions. I can apply such mastery to assisting the server in the various tasks that require the use of the mod, such as removing lava mountains.
I am, also hate to brag, a decent builder in Minecraft. If you require a piece of my work, look at my current base. I would really like to bring some 'pizazz' to our spawn to impress new players. Nothing to flashy though.
I am well accepted and respected throughout the MrGreen Minecraft community. I refrain from swearing at other players, and swearing in general. In game, I am also respected, by allies and enemies alike. I believe friendliness is more important than hating on someone, especially when the reason for flaming is based in game. I rarely get worked up, unless something completely irrational or unjustified is done by another player.
I am American. I live on the East Coast of America (Eastern Standard time). The server has a large portion of players and time that go unmoderated, due to time differences (Not at the moment though, come server restart there will be). There has additionally been a general need for an American administrator, anyways. I also can cover what is the evening for Dutch players.
I am easily contactable. I get Steam and Skype notifications on my computer and mobile phone. I will usually respond to a message in under 30 minutes. I check the MrGreen forums at least twice a day, so messaging me here is another option. I'm also in game almost everyday, depending on school assignments. I can usually devote 1-4 hours of game time on weekdays, depending on school assignments, and sometimes more than 5 hours on Fridays and Weekends.
I am completely loyal to the MrGreen Minecraft server. I have ALWAYS played, despite the troubles it has had and has. I plan to continue this trend.
I am fluent in German. Dutch is extremely close to German, and I'm able to draw out what most Dutch players are saying. We also have many players that can speak German, if not Dutch or English. This increases the playerbase I would be able to help. IRCDespite popular belief, I am active on IRC quite a bit (I usually just just go under the nickname it gives me "MrGreen45,32" etc...--> Most likely will change). The problem is, however, that not many are active on the IRC channels when I get on (Dutch people are asleep). Little something about your self and why you think you're fit to be admin: As it says in the topic way up there, this is really embarrassing! I feel really bad making a second application to replace my first, but with the severe drop in Infected Wars' popularity, I stopped seeing a reason to hold onto my admin application. That and how I don't enjoy Zombie Survival. Nothing against Mr Green, of course. It's just not my cup of tea.
But it was that one admin application that actually brought me in to be a contributing member of these forums. Not to fulfill my requirements to become an admin, thought it's likely that was a driving factor, but because this forum really did just seem fun!
I soon learned that Mr Green servers went beyond just two games in Garrysmod. Not even one week later I joined Discord in the Minecraft faction wars server alongside Box. I only got a taste of how fun the server really could be, though (even if I did have some higher tier stuff thanks to Discord being one of the more powerful factions).
Then came the competition for the creation of vs games. I buckled down and began production on a three different entries (one of which was with Quert). I was, once more, really enjoying Minecraft. So I stuck around.
With the most recent map, the guerrilla faction wars, I've been having a blast. I definitely intend to stay around for a very long time.
As for qualifications, I feel I have actually gained more since my last post.
I spent, with a friend of mine, a month running an extremely popular Survival Games server for Minecraft. The plugin we used broke, so it's going to be down for some time, but I digress. I spent most of my nights administrating the server as well as addressing individual complaints about the server itself. A few complaints were issued in my direction. But all were resolved peacefully through either an explanation of my actions, or through me having to alter the way I administrated in the first place!
I have, as I said in my previous thread, administrated many DarkRP Garrysmod servers among a plethora of other gamemodes. I do my best to be as fair an administrator as I can possibly be, doing as much as I can to resolve an issue peacefully.
Lastly, and I said this in the first thread but it's worth saying again, I take an extremely strong stance against hackers. Anyone who gains an unfair advantage on others, through any means, and knowingly removes their enjoyment from the game deserves zero mercy. Whether it be a fault or otherwise. Aside from hackers, exploiters, and "extreme" griefers I do my best to be lenient.
I, like many others who apply, hope to make the cut. Either way I'll be seeing you on the server!

The players who built our PVP arena are Ldenby, MegaBananaBandit, Shpotacuz, JuniorPedder and Riaska
Our coordinates are: X -813 Z 521
The only rules to the game are that you must be in survival mode and use the same weapons for a fair match.
Our PVP arena has redstone opening doors, obsticles that come from the floor, and a lava trap. This is to make it harder for the players. These are all controlled by a control room.
There are also spectators windows so they can watch the battle. We have built the arena in an unusual structure which is very unique.

Well, I like to post the crap that I write, and what I wrote is another story. I feel very spammy making a new thread for each of these, but it wouldn't feel right to bunch them all into one thread :I
Anyway, here's my next short story. Another one I wrote on impulse.


Cacotopia



Out swung the tattered green shutters, letting the lifeless light dance its way in. Brick walls had long since began their steady crumbling decay. Three stories down, streets flooded with litter wound around the dilapidated estates. And through these decrepit pathways walked both man and woman, hair matted to their face with clothes that had long since become rags. The man looked down from his vantage point to see a few return his gaze with a frozen smile. Always smiling. Never frowning. Always happy. Never sad. With dulled eyes, worn from hardship and pain.


step followed step with a sense of purpose, each one following a path they had taken for time unknown. The man simply watched the world from above with a smile as solid and unmoving as those below. And with eyes with no more life than those below.


He looked up to see the mountain range as he did each morning. There it stood, caught behind a thin veil of polluted fog, holding the empty shells of once vibrant green trees. Grey stone clashed with blackened soil as the world itself rose up to scrape at the grey clouds. His gaze shifted downward as he looked at the lake which sat beneath the imposing uplifts of earth. Still and black. Black and still.


He followed the lake down to the reddened, sand-like wasteland that existed just outside the city. Not even tumbleweeds dared to cross it. A cry from below called his attention as he moved his gaze to its source. A man had fallen in the street, clutching a bloody arm. Within minutes a team of four men in blackened and brown gowns had made their way to him. They picked him up, a man to each limb, and carried him off. His screams of agony following.


The man breathed in deeply, holding the dead air in his lungs for what seemed to be forever. He opened his cracked lips, parched from the limited supply of water, and spoke in a voice as coarse as sandpaper. And with a smile wider than ever, he turned his gaze up to the smudge of light called the sun.


“It's perfect.”

Okay, I'm Mathijs and I'm from Belgium. I'm 16 years old since June 2012. I've been an active member of the server since minecraft Beta 1.3, around 2.5 years ago. I've been an active member of the community since 1 year ago. Tough I've got some problems with my IRC account at the moment ( Box help me ? ), I've been activilly using it for around 8 months. I play around 4 hours of Minecraft a day (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays not included.), and this can reach up to 7 hours in weekends and Fridays. With the next 2.5 months of vacation I'll be only for almost 10/7. When I'm going abroad I'll probably still be online on Steam and Skype but not in game. I know Awesomeo's admins application for the same server got recently accepted and that Corby tought Clavus wouldn't be accepting anyone for a while. Why I'm still trying my shot and what can I offer ? Like I said I'm a lot online on the server and I'm sure Awesomeo is a hard working man that can't be online 24/7. He's also working together with Dr.Minkey to start a Peacefull faction next map which will add a lot of new features to the server. I'm a lot more active in pvp and I almost know every player in game. Skype is a great source of contacts with in game players since Steam is less known to Minecraft Players. Here's an example how I'll probably be doing my work as an Admin:

With fraps running 24/7 and my dual monitor setup I try to do my work as good as possible. I keep trillian (My IRC program), Steam and Skype open at all times so I'm easily reachable. What I think I'll be doing as an admin is probably keep pvp'ing as much as possible. This is the best way to spot hackers and xrayers. Ofcourse I'll be doing the patrols Corby used to do to check if any faction has an incredible amount of stuff that's probably duped into the game. I hope I do get accepted cause I know Awesomeo is really bussy with constructing puzzles and adventure maps for the players so he can't pvp as much as he used to do. I think I'll be seen as the pvp admin (The admin that kicks all the autoklickes, JezusModders, Killauras, ... As you can see from my Ban Requests).
EDIT: I forgot to talk about if I had previous admin experiences since this is pretty important in my oppinion. I've had admin on a server (CSS) where you had to pay 5 euros a month to become admin. I bought it one month and then I got it for ever since the Head-Admin was happy with how I rolled. On minecraft I've been a chat_mod on a server which was about to kick off. But due the abusive behaviour of other Mods it kinda got a shitty server. I never got complaints about how I handled situations. Tough I'm sure that L4G mod is a way more difficult to handle then those 2 servers. That's why I waited till my 16 so I was sure that I could handle it all well.
I have resigned from both servers and I do not have any more contact with the CSS community.

So the first, and most useful way you can get greencoins is by donating. The money from these donations go on to improving the server, and making your minecraft experience better. So not only do you get to buy the perks, you invest in new hardware and help cover the running costs.
But I appreciate that not all of you have a payment method to use, so I've decided to introduce a few ways to get them without needing to pay.
Starting from today, any player that does any of the following will receive green coins in game.
Bump the minecraft.net forum topic. - 25gc (can be repeated, but not by putting irrelevant posts or consecutively posting. Limit of 1 post per 48 hours) When you bump the topic, send me a personal message with your minecraft forum name and I'll send you your gcs.
Submit a ban request with solid evidence, leading to the banning of a hacker. -150gc (Video evidence, with obvious hacking. It has to be in the linked topic, and has to be in the correct format to receive the reward)
Duplication reporting - 500gc (The first person to report an unpatched dupe to me via personal message or in game via /tell)
I'm going to trial this with my remaining coins, if it takes off I'll try to increase the rewards a bit with backing from Clavus. If not, you all can't complain there's no way to get gcs in minecraft

Hello all,
I have been playing Minecraft for quite some time now, for about a week longer than the day I first was introduced to this server by Corby. I'd say I've been playing for around 18 months, give or take.
I am on summer vacation, and you can usually find a strong correlation between how much of a neckbeard I become and how much free time I have. And my friends, I have 16 weeks of pure unadulterated freedom. Needless to say I will be playing Minecraft more than is healthily recommended.
I have a lot of ideas I'd like to implement as admin, but I don't want to bore you. So here is a brief summary:

Host regular events.
Increase awareness of greencoins through 'Awesomeo's Adventures' and helping people set up their account.
Provide in game assistance to newer players, hopefully meaning they're more likely to return.
Act as a mediator, discovering what problems people have with the server and seeing if it can be improved (duping issues, command spammers, and racially insulting themes/language)
Cleaning up common areas (around teleporters) of 1x1 towers and over-griefed land. Hopefully to increase the longevity of the maps and welcome new builds.

Though I'm not a common IRC monkey, I am always available through private message (I get push notifications to my phone) . And I expect that as soon as I am reunited with my gaming rig at home I will be able to be on more often.
I'm a relaxed kind of guy, my teachers often told me if I were any more laid back I'd fall off my chair. Whilst this has a lot of health and safety implications, after seeing the barrages Corby endures I think it's a pretty damn essential quality for the Minecraft server.
I realise that a lot of the anti-cheating side of administration is covered and new admins may not be necessary in that department - but I feel the server could benefit exponentially with just a small input from an experienced hand, that belongs to a guy that loves Minecraft and wants to help develop the community.

No, its not the gods faction, if you read it properly you would see that. But fine, you could even just strip world edit part, personally I dont think that is an issue as its not like moderators are your average Joe, but I dont see how you can look at this post with almost every single person saying its a good idea and just go 'nah' without even acknowledging any of the proposed ideas in it.

Thats stupid, ignorant and frankly just lazy considering the amount of potential donations there are in the MineCraft server and sheer number of players that REGULARLY go on here. I don't even play on the MineCraft server, yet I still put the effort in to do this and try to make it better for those that DO play it. Being the owner I would expect you to do the same

I've read that novel of a text several times now, and I can only say one thing. You, sir, are bloody dumb.
The quality of your text would refer to you being either dyslexic or drunk, as there seems to be no red thread whatsoever. The base seems to be something about x-ray or hacks or whatnot, which are all quite well governed (Have you seen the unban section? We have closer to thousand people banned for x-ray on the passing of few months.) and its causalization to apparent youthfulness of the admins. Instead of writing a block of text that would make Tolkien jealous, maybe you should actually include something to say in your text instead of rambling about absolutely, positively nothing.

The minecraft server seems to suffer from very annoying lag spikes which ruins the experience for the players. My suggestion is to use Craftbukkit++ instead of Craftbukkit+ which should help reduce/remove the lag.
What is Craftbukkit++?
Craftbukkit++ is an optimised version of Craftbukkit+ it is made by one of the people working the Spout Project. As it is an optimised version of Craftbukkit+ nearly all the plugins will work (ironically the plugins that don't seem to work are the anti-lag plugins).
What Craftbukkit++ optimises?
Craftbukkit++ optimises these parts of minecraft Growth/Decay, Item Stacks, Red-stone Torches, Lighting Checks, Mob Spawn Range and Mobs Per Chunk. All the enhancements are configurable via the bukkit.yml file in your server folder.

Almost everyone out there is still cblogging, reachhacking, autoclicking, xraying, speedhacking
AND NO BANS
All the players that play this game fair are almost forced to leave because they are getting killed by hackers
The only options these fair playing gamers have is installing hax theirselves to cope the hackers.
I'm getting really tired of being in the middle of a fight and someone hits 8 hearts in once and later he appears to have bane of Arthropods.
All these hacks make the server so suckish to play on, in combination with the lagg everyone who plays fair just quits playing.
I'm not saying that Clavus and Corby don't do their work properly but there is so few attention at the server what makes it even more worse and so on.
The cblogg plugg-in worked for 1 day then everyone knew how to be not killed by it.
I don't know much about plugg-in's but can't you autokill people that logg of while they were in combat ?
Can't you autokill people that go say 1.1 times faster for 3 seconds in water ?
Can't you autokill people that hit another one 8 times in 2 seconds ?
I know, the server wont be able to run this since it's in a crap condition if we are hounoust.
But if the donating system for mc starts working I honestly think this should be invested in upgrading the server so it can cope the plugg-in's
I'm sure that I'm not the only one that's owning noobs and has wonderfull loot when suddenly an autoclicker speedhacker comes out of nowhere and just insta-kills you.
That's why I beg the Top-Crew to make the server HACKER PROOF.
