So, I started a new game.

I build a boat, found an island, and decided to build my house there.

I heard zombies when I was building.

I found a dungeon in my island.

Killed the zombies and destroyed the cage.

Now I found about three other caves and there are FUCKING ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE.

I'm scared. D:

Put on some happy music and go and kill them all.

1. Enter Cave, see monsters.

2. Set difficulty to peaceful, monsters gone

3. Place torches everywhere.

4. Put difficulty back to Normal.

5. ????????

6. PROFIT!

I found a nice easy method for clearing caves full of monsters...

1. Enter Cave, see monsters.

2. Set difficulty to peaceful, monsters gone

3. Place torches everywhere.

4. Put difficulty back to Normal.

5. ????????

6. PROFIT!

Then why the fuck put it back to Normal in the first place you pussy.

I only do this when I can't be bothered to use the boring/tedious combat to clear a cave full of bastard skeletons.

It's rubbish above ground unless normal is on because you can just run around all night without consequences. I have it on normal to motivate me to make secure structures.

As long as the enemy is a block below you they're easy to kill because you can just hit them when they try to climb up.
