Morning Everyone! Today I would like to present a new type of map. This is probably the first of its kind for zombie survival. I have been experimenting with minecraft textures in sdk for quite a while now and got familiar with all the texture scaling and blocks and im ready to design and build an island based minecraft map for zs.
The island looks boring and flat right now but in the future I plan on expanding it and making it look more minecraftish and natural. There will be lots of trees, huts, hills and mountains, keeping in mind that I dont want to make this map too big or it wont suit zs. There will be of course the ability to destroy and move around/pickup certain objects like chests, furnaces, crafting benches, birch trees and such which you can barricade with and nail.
Feel free to post suggestions or constructive criticism, it will most likely help me out. I have not abandoned dump_v2 or any other map projects. I can also give anyone the minecraft textures and prefab blocks so you can build your own creation or terrain which could probably be imported into the map.

Well just to clear things up Huljpe, these stages are simply for the construction of the bare structure of the base. This is in no way a long term plan, all of this will be done after the first week easily.

1- If you read the original topic, you'll see we're filtering down to the 'commited' players after this stage, who just want to have fun building stuff with us basically - managing a large amount of players like this in the short term will be fine, and if there is any trouble it will be dealt with easily, trust me.
The resources will be pooled from stage one and put into a protected room so stealing wont be a problem, after which we agreed if someone wants to leave and start their own faction we will give them half the resources they gathered and send them on their way.
2- Both. Land is claimed in squares, we will be claiming the faction in a square - I dont see where the confusion is in this - and yes, we'll dig the whole faction land (excluding the perimeter + wall)
3- The wall will be as boring as the ideas you can come up with, the fact you think it would be boring more reflects that you cant think of any cool wall ideas! PROVE ME WRONG AND POST A COOL IDEA!
The very fact that I said we're going to put one of you guys in charge of wall building show prove to you that we're sharing roles equally. And to be honest, the people who stay and mine with us to help the faction will of showed they are committed to being a permanent faction member and in turn will be around to build the cool shit after we've done the first stages.

Little something about your self and why you think you're fit to be admin:
Been around for longer than many might know, but only sporadically and fairly unnoticed. Only recently have I become more present on Minecraft. As a result, people have become more aware of my presence and I've come to know a fair share of users too.
In Minecraft I've already have dealt with a modest amount of "cleaning up" the mess made by people infront of my eyes, while not being able to sanction them personally. And am aware of the functionality offered by this server's plug-ins.
That last part is what made me aply for admin. Being able to warn (or act if necessary) instead of having to clean up behind the griefers (and other scum) while waiting for an admin to handle the individuals.
And i heared cake was part of the job-offer.

STEP 1. Find a good (flat) forest biome and claim as much land as possible

Step 2. Everyone starts to dig dig dig to bedrock. In the below picture you can see how we will dig down, and the green section represents ONE claimed chunk. While this seems like a big task, trust me, in a group as large as this it takes no time - especially when we get more resources and can have iron picks.

There will also be a group of 2 or 3 people who will manage a stock room from this stage (including creating tools and smelting resources) to keep things organised, and a group of 2 or 3 people to chop down all the trees, as we will need the wood!
Step 3. After we have gained a good amount of resources from the digging, we split the group up a bit more. This will be a group of people to carry on with digging + a group of people to put in levels to the holes we have dug (this will create TONS of floors for us to build things into, like mazes or challenges or whatever)

And a most importantly, a group of builders to start the wall. For this, we want 1 person to be leading the wall construction - so consider this the first chance to show off your 1337 building skills!
I want you to post below pictures of your wall design - which has to be made of stone and wood (any form). The design must be repeatable, 3D (not just a flat wall) and awsam, then when we get to this stage, the person with the best design will be in charge of the wall construction

It's half the fun Just sucks that people take that mentality into a contest, especially when we're just building for fun rather than reward, it's just totally ruined the experience for me. I think both (and most likely some other people) will have admin rights. Also tell your friend to stop giving you reputation for no reason whatsoever. It makes you both look stupid.

Building a computer is actually one of the simplest things related to computing I find. The only hurdle is making sure you order everything and making sure what you're buying is compatible. When it comes to putting it all together the sockets all tend to look different to each other, yet the same as what you're meant to plug it into.
When you spend £500 on a prebuilt machine, you don't know what parts or what condition the parts you're receiving are in. Dell are known (or at least were known) to reuse old parts in commercial computers. But, you don't have to worry about building it or what to do if it stops working in two days.
On the other hand, sourcing your own components will allow you to ensure you're only putting in quality, new hardware. As long as you order everything right, and make sure you install things properly you'll get more bang for your buck and potentially a longer lasting machine.
If you wanted to try the custom route, feel free to post your parts and we'll all have a look over them. There are a ton of youtube videos, just go round searching 'how to install: (Ram/Motherboard/GPU/CPU/Heatsink/PSU/HD/CD/ETC)
One of the best sites for both parts and reliable, well constructed pcs is www.overclockers.co.uk. They do customisable PCs, prebuilt rigs, or sets of components (motherboard, CPU and ram).
I'm in the market for a new hard drive, and might go for this cheap SSD.

Dear Concerned Citizen of MrGreenGaming Minecraft,
Sorry, but in what way is one member banned and another one week banned a witch hunt?
Let me explain to you what I do. Whilst on the server I /tp randomly to players and simply observe. I watch people on raids, I watch them when they think they're alone in the base, I've even witnessed two people performing what can only be described as a sex crime on a bed. I don't tp to everyone, but rather just a handful of players that are moving across dynmap near other factions, or stationary in their base.
One of these happened to be Redgander, he was gearing for a raid so I sat back and waited for him to head off. At this time I unfortunately saw him dupe ender pearls. Now I was stuck with what to do here, I honestly didn't know was 'right'. So I asked in the IRC channel something along the lines of 'Just seen a guy duping pearls, should I ban him?'. Darkstar, global admin and crime fighter extraordinaire told me I should (it involved some sort of advanced ban hammer fired from space). I therefore banned RedGander. Now I know it's a commonly exploited dupe, and I know RedGander is a decent enough guy that as far as I can tell doesn't use hacks so, at my own discretion, I labelled it as a 7 day ban and thought that was a decent compromise.
Now, a lot of you people I don't really know very well. But I have been visiting your base for a rather long time, and noticed how it's developed. Coincidence or not (I genuinely don't care at this point) your obsidian base sprung up amidst the duping spree. I really have wasted enough keystrokes on this topic already, so I'll keep it short and sweet: I've replaced obsidian bases before, I don't hunt witches let alone single factions and I don't have any issue with you guys. If anything I like quite a few of your members (Redgander included). But unfortunately it is my role as server admin to discipline foul play.
My earlier call may not have been the best in your eyes. But as I said in the quote I just want to have the server nicely balanced and try to put the duping behind us. I guess once a dupe emerges the map is forsaken, but I'm the type of guy that has to try something before I believe it's impossible. Apologies if my actions have come across as discriminative of the LRG clan, it just happens that there tends to always be a member of yours online, and they are always either raiding someone or sitting in their base talking.
The human brain is wired in such a way that it finds patterns in things, in all aspects of life. What has been maybe three events over the past few weeks may seem like a witchhunt to you, but if you look at the bigger picture your faction is really just a drop in the ocean. I keep my banlist public and updated regularly and I'd challenge you to find any sort of negative bias towards LRG on there.
I'm not the type to think I'm always right and that's the reason I changed your base back. So please if you do have any concerns just stick them in the server issues thread, it will keep things consolidated and I will definitely get round to reading and replying. If you want to talk more personally you can either catch me on IRC, steam or by personal message on the forums (if I'm available I'll reply pretty swiftly).
I hope this letter servers to quell your complaints and helps in some way.

Minecraft.nl is a fun server to play on, and supporting something that you spend dozens of hours on isn't a waste of $.

I think you guys are misunderstanding my intentions here.
I'm not picking on your faction, I'm not trying to disadvantage you. I'm just trying to grasp back a bit of the balance we had on the server before the duplication started. Now I can't police duped items, it's too large of a task. But what I can do is try to remove some of the products of the duplication, ie. huge obsidian bases.
Before PVP was hit in the face with a rubber penis by Mojang, players had to think about base design. Nowadays kids just dupe obsidian until they're swimming in it and create impenetrable fortresses. What that does is serves to create an even bigger gap in the PVP structure. You have a skilled, active faction that kills everyone yet also has an entirely unbreakable base so there's nothing that anyone can do. I'm all for people with wicked base designs that are inpenetrable, heck I'd salute you. But using duped obsidian isn't the way to do that.
We can debate whether your obsidian was duped or not all day. And I apologise for my typo in the game chat. I did my calculations on screen recording and its clear I wasn't attempting any sort of ruse. What strikes me with your OP is the sheer amount of reasons you give for finding your obsidian. Would it not be 'Oh awesomeo you made a mistake, I actually spent 32 euros on that obsidian can you put it back'. Or 'we had a generator and enchanted picks and sat and mined it.' Instead you have a set of hypotheses, not reasons.
Also I encourage you to post, you're not being unreasonable or annoying and you're well in your right to question what on the surface looks like a dick move. I just hope you realise it isn't and never will be personal and I'm only doing it to try and help the server.
Edit: Also I am on a bit more personal terms with some of your leaders, who I hope would level with me and tell me whether or not they are okay with what I did. Let them know about what happened and get Juan or someone to send me a PM. Just take a minute and think if it was the other way round. If you went to raid a base and found it was made from a mammoth amount of obsidian, would you give me a shout and get me to investigate it or would you think 'hurrah gentlemen, your obsidian mining skills are quite impeccable.'

I can easily change it back, I screen recorded what I was doing if there's any doubt.
You had a base of around 2.5k obsidian blocks, high high in the sky. Every obsidian block takes 15 seconds to mine, let alone locate or generate with server lag. I know it's not the best solution but what I'm doing isn't limited to your faction. I replaced about 3 bases with over 6k obsidian blocks when the duping spree was rampant, and some of them even replaced the obsidian after I did it. In fact.... I'm pretty sure it was one of your faction members that reported the base to me and asked if I could do something about it. I will continue to replace any grossly abused obsidian base I find until told otherwise.
I'm not here to tell you how you can and can not build your base, and I get that it might not seem like the most professional thing to do. But you're one of the better factions on the server, you shouldn't have to rely on a duped obsidian sky base to protect you. Your points are all true, but as has been said you did not legit mine those blocks. Just the same way you didn't legit mine the diamond gold and iron blocks you have littered around your base and in your chests. Just the same as you didn't spend the time getting the identically damaged enchanted swords and armour that is in your chests. I won't even go into your stacked potions.
I haven't removed your duped items, I haven't kicked up a fuss about whether or not you hack, I just removed your game killing advantage of an all obsidian base so other factions at least have a chance in hell to create some competition. Heaven forbid.
Edit: the 100 hours was a typo I meant 10, just realised rewatching the recording ((2500*15)/60))/60

I've been paying around with the snapshot and it's much MUCH easier to enchant your stuff now.
You only have to go to level 30 max and you can gain xp from mining ores, smelting stuff in furnaces.
The end grinder isn't that important no more.
I'll give you some numbers (I did the tests myself in past):
in 1.2.5:
killing 200 blazes or 400 zombies/skelle/spiders/enderman give you around 30 to 35 levels of xp (from 0 to 30-35)
killing 485-490 blazes or around 970-980 zombies/skelle/spiders/enderman give you 50 levels of xp (from 0 to 50)
Now in the snapshot:
- Maximum enchant level is 30 (so this is around half the amount of xp you'd have to get than to get to level 50, this is because the xp system is exponential)
- I can from level 0 to 30 by mining around 2-3 stacks of ores (iron & gold ore don't drop xp orbs, but they do when u smelt them)
- Haven't done much test with smelting stuff in furnace.
I'll smelt 10 stacks of cobble in furnaces & post to which level I'll get from level 0
EDIT: this made me go from level 0 to level 26.
So conclusion, I say: wait until 1.3 is out before you make any gameplay changing decisions (plugins, etc..), because 1.3 is gonna be gameplay changing by itself
